Over 2,000 restaurants in 150 countries will participate in the Good France/Goût de France event to celebrate French gastronomy on March 21. The event is inspired by Auguste Escoffier, who launched the “Dîners d’Épicure” (Epicurean Dinners) initiative in 1912, with the same menu, on the same day, in several world cities, for as many guests as possible.
A senior Google executive insisted the search giant has no plans to become an online travel agent (OTA), but conceded he could “see why people think” it will. “We are not becoming an OTA, but I can see why people think the Book on Google feature makes us an OTA," said Oliver Heckmann, Google Head of Engineering for Shopping and Travel.
