HR Managers,
A burning question, and i try to post it again, as the first time it wasn't published.
When I read in a application that i have to send my passport sized picture, what purpose does it has, apart from seeing how I look.
Can you judge my 20+ years experience in this industry with some picture?
And if my resume really suits your needs, but no photo is attached, do i get discarded anyway?
How would you feel if I in return, ask your picture?

hey romy,
i do never forget to attach a photo, i don't agree with sending one.
However, on my application is a website, where you can see my work, with some professional shots of my food, kitchen, me working and press releases.
So there is always a way to "see" me. Again, this whole picture thing for me is so weird.
recently, I am quietly looking for another challenge, and whenever I get into a real serious conversation I send my picture.
cheers

wayne ...
in your present job did you send in your photo prior?
did it really make a difference to you?
or did it make a difference to the employer?
as they say ... a picture paints a thousand words ...
i for one would "insist" to attach my most recent photograph.
as i would expect candidates to do so as well.
real experience ...
photographs for many are considered "expensive".
after an "face to face" interview and the candidate not considered
immediately, i would return his / her photograph.
this gesture has augur well for me all along.
hoping that in turn it would rub off on someone.

I disagree with that principle. Good looks does not mean good brains nor it matters if the person if well fit or not to do the job properly. The only purpose I see is to get discarded or not depending whether the interviewer likes the way you look. Yes - I do send my photo when requested... after all I am the one willing to be accepted. In the UK I've seen HR managers going "Why is this candidate forwarding a CV with a photo?"
Like they say in China... di diao (low-key)

In some countries to request a picture of the candidates is against the law.
