Hi OBC, Keep the registration card printed for all, rooms allocated on the system, profiles placed. Guests with pickup have the driver give a call say 5 mts from the hotel - have a GR / FO associate stand at the main porch, take straight to the room and do the c/i formalities. For guests without any pick up, take ID at reception when the walk in, take straight to the room, do the c/i formalities in the room. Any thing else buddy ?

Well... if you are looking at the technological setup... would basically be as follows depending on your operations: A. Remote Check - In: Can be done in PMS systems that support this while the guest is being transported to the hotel. Hand held PDA terminals (Online or offline) can be used to check in the guest. The agent can carry a preprinted regcard for the guest to sign on arrival. The Guest would sign his Credit card authorisation on the portable credit card GPRS enabled POS terminals which will print out the approval slip.Portable key encoding machine linked to the hotel Door Lock system could print the key on the portable key card encoder the front desk agent carries on his belt. As soon as he arrives he is guided straight to his room where the butler can take charge from the front desk agent. B.Kiosk based check In: Many PMS systems now have the kiosk based express checkin. The guest may retrieve his existing booking using his credit card or walk himself in using the credit card from this kiosk terminal, update his profile details , preferences, select a room and check himself in..The kiosk is linked to the credit card POS and to a door lock key encoder which will encode a key which the guest can take and use to access the room. No personal touch here..so many may not agre to this method unless its an extremely busy operation like airports or busy business hotels. Capsule hotels in Japan use this as the manning costs are minimal. C. Express Checkouts: Most Interactive TV systems in hotels have an option for "Video Checkout". A guest with a pre approved credit card just views his bill on the TV which is linked to the Hotel PMS system select checkout if all seems ok which will print his bill automatically in the reception cashier desk and he can simply walk out. Technologically the options are there.. practically if these will be worth the investment is what you need to decide before going for such systems.Seen a lot of softwares go unused because there was no study on the practical usage requirement meaning a lot of good investment going to waste. Otherwise making it "seamless" the good old fashioned way the butler suggest may be more practical. If you still need more specific details email me at randomrambler73 at gmail dot com.
