Did not you realise that recently or since you have improvised the forum, the topics, contents, subtances have gone down the hill?
I am not sure whether I am the only one noticed that but the postings becoming absurd.
It is definitely not the ehotelier forum used to be few years ago and I have been spending much lesser time to this site, simply because there is nothing much to learn from those professionals anymore.
Anyone can dispute my view but my stand remains.

Dear CJK,
Thank you for your feedback. How can we change this? It is the members that feeds the content to the forum to grow... Perhaps a question to ask is what is happening to the Hoteliers around the world? Have the quality of the Hotel industry and the professionals that builds it also decreased? Why is that if so? One point I like to mention in regards to this is that after feedback from our users to introduce immediate approvals of postings you get to see all those postings and topics that we normally would have deleted.
This is a very interesting topic I think and is well worth discussing on a deeper level. What and Why is happening to the Hotelier Profession that is making them post absurd postings filled with no substance?
Let the discussion begin!
Kind regards,
ehotelier Moderator.

it is not the hoteliers it is your web site i was an avide reader of this site for years but since the change i have found the site to be of very little value, the job postings are scarce topics are ordinary etc, you should be able to see this for yourself, please dont take this as an attack its simply the truth, and who come up with this color scheme? Stevie Wonder!

An appeal for all to turn back to profesionalism in the management forum and an appeal to e hotelier to introduce a nonsense section where all nonsense posts are mercilessly moved.

The forum has passed through phases before where the forum has been ruined by the thoughtlessness, the arrogance or the spitefulness of a few. I can not remember when I first started using the forum, seems like at least 6 or 7 years ago.
I do not believe the new layout is at fault.
Nor do I believe that instant posting is the reason. Afterall, if we were subject to censorship before posts could appear, then the moderator should not now wait for someone to report a post before taking action, but can and should take action immediately.
The forum needs instant posting for it to grow. But this growth is now being stifled by the behaviour of a few. Their posts are detering potential new members.
We members have to help the moderator and report any posts that we feel are unsuitable for publication and also if any posts have been posted in the wrong section. ( A section for chit chat would be useful )
Another idea would be for the moderator, who should have more time on his hands as he is not censoring everything right now, to advertise through posting links on Facebook, Twitter etc in order to encourage more persons to visit the forum. Let's face it... the concept of the forum is very good but it is not very well known.
Another point is that I find that there are simply too many sections.
I would suggest :
Management
Food and Beverage
Rooms
Marketing
Engineering
IT
Developments
Human Resources
Misc
Chit Chat

Remember the Coke "Classic story"............think you have the same here. Get those moderators back in here quickly before the postings coming down to rantings only ( looking now, it's not far from it!)
No one will bother anymore and thats a shame as many visitors have been coming years to the site and enjoy it for the learning experience.
There is no place for the evident racism and abuse that the current posters are demonstrating. Just delete the posts!

From what used to be a source of "some" information, this has turned into a "facebook" / "twitter" barrage of meaningless and shameful posts by a few self serving individuals who pose questions for comment, or respond to posts, and when given a response from a professional, they choose to shoot the response down with negativity and almost blatant racisim retorts or some comic-relief commentary that wouldn't even be heard in a back street pub!
Even in this "feedback" section, I fail to see why anyone would need to make a comment that the new colour scheme was designed by Stevie Wonder - one of the worlds greatest entertainers, who is blind and black!! If you don't like the colour, just say so, without a slur on any individual. Likes and dislikes are objective and up to personal taste, the purpose of the improvements is like anything else in this world, it is evolving.
However, the way the forums are evolving into a literary black-hole and the levels of "Managers" who are contributing is likewise evolving, or is that "dissolving" makes me very sad for the future of the industry, in some locations.
Life has been tough for many folks on many occasions and for many reasons, however, no matter where or what your specific problem is, rather than share your contempt for those few who are trying to provide constructive feedback, try sharing a little more "hospitality" and put away the kitchen knives!
I think it is time for the Moderators to take action to guide comments in the directions they should be going. Immediate postings can take place, however they can also be removed just as quickly. For an immediate posting to work, in my opinion, contributers must provide a legitimate name, work email and receive an official log on acknowledgement, after verification - which really shouldn't take too long - I'm sure there won't be too many willing to give out this data and continue with their derogatory commentaries.

What I find especially alarming, and perhaps ironic, is that here, among hospitality professionals, much of the attitude and language of late from a relative few individuals, has been so thoroughly inhospitable, disrespectful, rude... everything this industry should not be.
I agree that the moderators should step on it, quickly. We can, for sure, help that process by reporting and voting down messages and threads we find inappropriate...
... we can also give encouragement by giving positive ratings to topics and voting up author reputation on those messages that are genuinely interesting and useful.
Thanks

The general consensus is that we the majority of those who care about the site want to see it protected from those that are clearly there for the ego ride and have nothing better to do with their time but berate, abuse and insult. Its beginning to show dangerous signs...... best you take action now please!!!

It is not that much easy to block IP addresses. Nowaday, there are many ways to get free IPs. I would say, we go back to moderate the postings but sure no one will appreciate it. Let's review... There are non-hoteliers who are accessing for their cheap ads, there are hoteliers who are using this forum for fun, etc... So, what I would suggest is;
- Users to register with their official emails to get use of forum. If anyone on a move, still to provide some valid identification (leave it to moderator what he wants, may be passport copy). And, member names, must be filled in by moderator only. If by self, everyone is Michael Jackson or Mr. ABC. Have to control by moderator.
- Ban someone with bad reputation, that I would agree. But, minus reputation not really mean to be bad. Even anyone can vote minus with no reason. Use report profile option with some kind of valid points then moderator can decide on it.
I am sure if everyone using their own identification, we will behave properly. Share your ideas.

as I am the cause of the trouble and my last try to explain has been moderated,I hope, this will go through
it was under other people my wish to see instant access,as my wife and me are used to real dialog without given borders
when this came truth, it was a little add, which made me in a personal situation sick to the bone, and I stupidly answered instantly
this caused a snowball system to be installed and maintained, the original issue got forgotten
its a common practice espacially with the issue,I was answering
I dont care and will not care to hide my opinion on human rights for all and everybody, against the guys, which will always complain to cross our rights
sorry to say that I have been a cause of trouble and did not get other than threads etc...I did expect this from the crowd of the usual commuters, but not from the rest, which is sitting around countries, which neglete all civil rights, but pay
cloest to my initial cause came CH and he did it proper,as I meant to do it,as I do live midst amoungst the people, which suffer the most under my topic
best regards

sure some comments are offensive, you'll find that anywhere and in life.
but i think the real problem is as mentioned, the relevance of people's comments.
as well, i have mentioned a few weeks ago that there are too many subforums. this will confuse people and hence you see the over use of the "mgmt forum" which is basically a general forum.
in any case, im here to learn and i wish there were more relevant comments displayed.
cheers,
CC
