Hi,

I am a FOM @ a new hotel which is located within an I.T.Hub with Microsoft , Google & their likes operating their bases outside US. I would like to know what all could be the new gadgets / technologies that we could use within our hotel to entice them and keep us a favourable property for them. Good service, product and concepts are assured, but the extra perks that an I.T. professional would appreciate is what's required.

Any inputs would be appreciated.

Cheers,
Vaishakh.

1. wifi throughout the hotel? for free?

2. since most IT professionals are big on laptops, i think a neat amenity will be a fan-based laptop holder. laptops have the tendency to overheat, and even higher chance for IT pros who are probably on it constantly.

3. mousepads with hotel logo (ones they can take away with). good for marketing purposes also. many ppl travel without their mousepads. and its impossible to use an optic mouse over glass top tables (which is a norm in most hotels). so itll prove to be useful at little expense. (note, not everyone with a laptop uses their touchpad... some still prefer a usb mouse)

just a few ideas i could think of. hope to hear what others have to say.

just to add. these people work for google and microsoft... you're not going to impress them with the latest gadgets.. these people MAKE them. so its up to little touches that you do that'll surprise them to return.

cheers,
CC

Best way to find out what would entice people is to ask them! I would suggest that you send out a survey or questionnaire to them and find out what they would like.

Just my two sense worth.

I think one of the gadgets a hotel can use to attract the customers is 1 switch for all the lights

Food for thought,

beyond the usual add 2-3 Spa treatments in room or floor
relaxing instrumental music

That what i think and would like to have these.

I believe a GUEST safe, big enough to accommodate a laptop, is an a 'must have' in any Hotel nowadays.
