Dear hoteliers,

does anyone has ideas or advices where to start my career in the wellness and spa department? Which hotel chains are good, and would I have a chance in Asia as a German citizen? I found the spa academy in Bangkok very interesting and would like doing my certificates over there while working for an international hotel chain.
Since I am new in that forum I would be happy to get from professionals some suggestions or feedback.

Thanks a lot

Best regards

Anita

Hi Akaiser,

In terms of Asia, I use to work in Hong Kong and strange enough, none of management was local.
The Corporate director of Spa was Caucasian and looks to be in his early-mid 30s.
Other managers were from Singapore, Thailand and America.

You definitely have a good chance if you can speak English and German.
Go to Fairmont's website. They have a Spa specializing route for their leadership development program.

Cheers,
CC

Thanks a lot for your interesting response. I checked the program on Fairmont´s website and it sounds very interesting. I definitely will apply for this training position. Do you have experiences with this hotel chain?

I am really thankful if I receive helpful comments since it is not so easy to find the right way after finishing my studies.

Thank you once again.

If you want a better insight.

Register to LinkedIn.com and you can search the profiles of many Spa Management professionals. Take a look at their education level and experience, and see where it has taken them.
You may also contact them to give you better advice in terms of your specialization.
Personally, I don't know much about Spa Mgmt so do speak with the professionals.

Cheers and all the best akaiser,
