I would like to hear feedback from expats that have moved, lived and worked in St Lucia. Living on an island has its advantages and disadvantages, I have lived on an island before - but what I want to know is is crime really high? expats seem to live on the north end of the island around rodney bay - what is the south like, near the Pitons? How are expats really treated/accepted?
all thoughts welcome
Many thanks

Hi Penfold,
I was the Manager at Anse Chastanet, at the foot of the Pitons outside Soufriere for two years January 1998 to December 1999.
I actually enjoyed St Lucia but moved after the two years elsewhere in the Caribbean, which was a mistake...I moved from St. Lucia to Negril in Jamaica, a bad move from a beautiful island to probably the worst and most crime ridden in the Caribbean.
During my two years we had the very few occasional thefts and some problems with the unions, but not that much more than elsewhere.
I found the St Lucians charming and good workers.
Would I go back to St. Lucia, the answer is YES, but alas I am now retired.
Best regards
