Wondering if anyone has ever tried paying housekeepers by the individual unit rather than by the hour. Base the piece rate on what the company's standard is for time (average) for cleaning a unit. This to avoid eating labor costs associated with under-performing housekeepers and/or wasted and inefficient use of time. Have some incentive to ensure cleanliness standards are being met. Shift supervisor attends to all loose ends and cleaners on peice rate are ONLY cleaning units and not doing anything else. Seems that the best-performing staff would love the idea (because they can clean the units the fastest and basically get paid more) and only the under-performing staff or "time-padders" would not like it?
