ROC ASA is an upper secundary vocational school and belongs to the Amarantis group of education. The total number of education schools which belongs in this group is 60 with a total of 30000 students, divided over Utrecht, Amsterdam, Almere, Zaandam and Amersfoort. Hotelschool Amersfoort has approximately 600 students.
The school is based in a former monastry which has been reconstructed into a hotel called ‘Leerhotel het Klooster’. This special learning environment is an official enterprise with real guests run by students under the supervision of instructors.
In this way the students will be well prepared to gain the skills needed in their future jobs.
In 2005 the hotel & hospitality sector of ROC ASA started a bi-lingual course for the level 4 students Hotel Enterpreneur Manager (HOM) with the aim to improve the English skills, to promote placements abroad, widen their horizon and meet other cultures. We have created aninternational training network ASTRUM together with other vocational training institutes from Finland, France, Italy and Germany to increase mobility programmes throughout Europe.
Apart from this network we have cooperated in a project funded by the European Committee that gave our school the opportunity to start a unique exchange programme together with Australia and Finland for a period of 2 year.
The hotel school Amersfoort has had many international students at school and is fully aware of the importance of internationalisation.
