Food & Hospitality College
ROC Zeeland, Food & Hospitality College is situated in a new school building in Middelburg (the south west of the Netherlands) and us a school for secondary vocational education specialized in Hospitality (hotel and catering industry), Bakery, Tourism and Leisure. In 2012 the hotel school part of Food & Hospitality College will celebrate its 25th anniversary. Food & Hospitality College offers education for students between 16 and 25 years old.
The new school building (opened March 2010) offers the students up to date facilities, a restaurant (Puur a la Carte) with a restaurant kitchen, an instruction kitchen, a demo kitchen. The Hospitality students also look after the school canteen and the Espressobar Biens (http://portal.roczeeland.nl/portal/page/portal/wda/CLUSTERS/HTV/BIENS%20Espressobar) open to the public visiting Zep Middelburg. The school is situated in Zep Middelburg, a unique location with a combination of tourist attractions, restaurants, music hall and shops and offers the Food & Hospitality students an informative and dynamic environment. The Tourism and Leisure department is also located in Goes.
The education courses offered to the students vary from level 1 to level 4 in the departments: Hospitality (Hotel, restaurant and kitchen), Pastry and Bakery and Tourism and Leisure.
The Hospitality department also has a special level 4+ Hospitality Manager course with a fast track education preparing students for postgraduate Hotel education.
The secondary vocational education is set up practice-oriented. Next to theoretical lessons the students have practical lessons in the school and in all levels 40% of the education is spent on internship. Internship can be done in the region or internationally (Europe, USA of Asia).
For Tourism students the Food and Hospitality College has a special fast track programme in partnership with Vacansoleil. During the summer months the students have their internship at a Vacansoleil camping in Europe and during the off season months the students follow their lessons at school in Middelburg.
Food & Hospitality College offer students genuine, enterprising, guest oriented education provided by lecturers from the industry.
In the city centre of Middelburg a small (11 rooms) boutique hotel, Hotel aan de Dam, is managed by students of the level 4+ Hospitality Management education. This gives the students a broad experience running a hotel business in all facets. From reception to housekeeping is all done by the students themselves under supervision of a (Assistant) Hotel Manager especially trained to work with students in a training hotel.
