Accor, Vietnam's most dynamic international and leading hotel group kicked off its major recruitment efforts with Accor Career Fair 2008 on 13th July 2008 at Sofitel Plaza Hanoi. This career fair witnessed participation of students from 12 universities based in Hanoi. During the first hour, the fair attracted 900 walk-ins.
Accor Career Fair is organized annually by Accor in Vietnam in order to raise awareness about the opportunities for jobs and careers in the hospitality industry and to attract young and talented Vietnamese into this critical and growing sector. The purpose of the fair is to also provide an avenue for job seekers to meet executives working in various departments such as operations, food and beverage, house-keeping and
engineering from various Accor hotels, in a casual yet professional platform. Job seekers can find out what the hospitality industry really has to offer and clear any misperceptions they may have about the hospitality industry.
Leaders from Hanoi Tourism Department, representatives from 12 universities and an estimated 1,000 fresh graduates attended the recent career fair. Irene Cheong, Accor Director of Human Resource in Vietnam and Philippines said "With more than 10 hotels opening in the pipeline, Accor is facing a challenging time in recruiting a large number of staff with the correct service attitude and share our commitment to offer our guests a world-class experience in Accor hotels. Jobs in the hospitality industry involves long working hours and shift work. It is always a challenge to attract and retain good staff".
Participants at the career fair were able to learn more about Accor's Management Trainees Scheme in Vietnam, a programme specially tailored to equip fresh university graduates with industry and service knowledge. Candidates recruited under this programme will undergo 18 months of training specially tailored to enhance their quality and delivery of service standards in hospitality.
This career fair demonstrates Accor's commitment to provide local talent a first hand view of the exciting career opportunities available in Accor and provides a great platform to interview job seekers en-masse. There are potentially over 1,000 jobs available from the Accor hotels in Vietnam. In addition to this, Accor has recently launched a Vietnamese version of its worldwide jobs portal -"Accorjobs.com" which is a one-stop recruitment and employment service for
Accor employees and those interested in a career with Accor. Through this global portal, job vacancies are accessible to not just Accor employees but also to potential job seekers.
Early this year, Accor had announced that it was developing 11 new hotels: Pullman Lao Cai, Pullman Sapa Resort, Pullman Vung Tau, Mercure Hanoi La Gare, Mercure Hanoi Hado, Novotel Phu Quoc
Resort, Novotel Halong Bay, Novotel Nha Trang, Novotel Hoi An Imperial Resort, Novotel Hanoi On The Park and Ibis Saigon South.
