What:Hotel Bel-Air Spa by La Prairie feels like a luxe club for Hollywood insiders and functions like a plush, pampering hideaway. The spa embraces the indoor-outdoor design of Hotel Bel-Air, with seven garden-side treatment rooms and a relaxation lounge with a private outdoor patio, greenery wall and fountain. The intimate and subtly glamorous space is bathed in whites and beiges and decked out with bleached red oak floors and luxurious touches such as silver-threaded wall decals and 22-karat gold artisan-made chandeliers.
Where: Hollywood royalty has frequented the newly overhauled hotel for decades, in part due to its seemingly remote location (it’s actually just a mile west of Beverly Hills) in the enclave of Bel-Air, an exclusive neighborhood built into the canyons of Los Angeles. The spa itself is located on the north end of the hotel’s sprawling 12-acre gardened grounds.

When: Added to the hotel in 2011, Hotel Bel-Air Spa by La Prairie’s construction was part of the property’s two-year renovation undertaken to restore its regal charm. The spa and a gym facility were added, rooms were revamped and the plants and flowers around the Forbes Travel Guide recommended property were enhanced. To make the most of the sunny California weather and flourishing gardens, visit in the spring and summer and take a dip in the iconic oval-shaped pool.
Why: Aside from the stellar service (you pick the music played in your treatment room) and knockout facilities (the mosaic-tiled steam room has aromatherapy sprays and twinkling LED lights), the spa warrants a visit simply to sample the ultra-luxurious La Prairie products and treatments. The Swiss skincare brand is known as an anti-aging all-star and services here use the coveted (and pricey) products, which are also stocked in the pretty, pristine locker rooms.
