Instability of Egypt results in cancellation of all tours from China
Since the eruption of turmoil in Egypt, its tourism marketing has been terribly affected. According to sources, large travel agencies in China such as Caissa and UTour have already cancelled their tour arranges to Egypt in August with full refunds to purchased products. However, whether they will rearrange tours in September remains to be uncertain. Chief Representative of Waleed Tours (Egypt), Reed Wang indicated that although tours to Egypt in September were said to be operated as planned, uncertainty still remained. However, he showed at the same time optimism on the recovery of the market in a short term. He said, speculated by Egyptian domestic media, this unstable situation in Egypt would last for a week or so, after which, everything would be back on track, so as its tourism market.

Luxury travel network announces top hotel, bar and spa
It was a frenetic week in Vegas for members of the luxury-travel industry. Virtuoso, the self-proclaimed "leading luxury travel network," hosted its annual travel conference at the Bellagio last week. Virtuoso's members reportedly generate around $9.6 billion in luxury travel sales each year. More than 4,200 industry members from 90 countries were in town for this year's speeches, luncheons and the luxury travel industry's equivalent of speed dating (four-minute meetings), with the aim of closing extravagant bookings. Just how extravagant? A three-night, $450,000 wedding at Mexican luxury resort Rosewood Mayakoba closed within four minutes for VIP travel agent Jack Ezon, who told Las Vegas Review-Journal that Virtuoso Travel Week was "the most important week of the year" for his company. The network also announced its annual Best of the Best Hotel Awards, which honors 10 winners from the network's portfolio of 983 luxury properties around the world. Read on from CNN here...

The Latest in Hotel Openings
Kempinski unveiled its 19th mainland hotel in Taiyuan, China. The first international five-star hotel in the city is located close to the city’s main shopping centres, such as Tianmei Plaza, Fashion Walk, Wangfujing, Parkson and Lufthansa Centre, as well as upscale office buildings. The hotel features 363 rooms and suites, all of which are contemporarily designed and range from 40 to 217 sqm in size.
Aria Hotels, a specialist in authentic Greek hospitality in the country's lesser-known hideaways has added the Elatos Resort & Health Club to its collection of boutique hotels and villas. Elatos is a hidden gem just over two hours from Athens on Greece's Mount Parnassos offering quiet, relaxed skiing in winter and glorious hiking, mountain biking and other country pursuits all year round. In the coming months the hotel will undergo a number of improvements and upgrades which should be completed by December 2013.
Radisson Hotel Rio De Janeiro to Open January, 2014. Atlantica Hotels International announced the signing of the Radisson Hotel Rio de Janeiro, scheduled to open January, 2014. The converted landmark beachfront hotel will offer 292 guestrooms and suites, and will be the eighth Radisson hotel in Brazil. Over the next five years, an investment of $5.5 in enhancements will be made to the hotel. “This is a fantastic addition to the Radisson portfolio. As a business destination, Rio de Janeiro is important to the Brazilian economy, and one of the largest leisure destinations in Brazil,” said Thorsten Kirschke, president, Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group, Americas.
DoubleTree by Hilton Port Huron Opens. The hotel’s transformation will continue with the development of the new 40,000 square foot Blue Water Area Convention Center, on which the hotel will break ground in October in partnership with St. Clair County. The hotel is owned by JB Real Estate Development, LLC and managed by Illinois-based management company, Hospitality Specialists, Inc.
