TweetParks Resorts adds nine new sites worth £47m. Private equity group Electra Partners, the majority shareholder in Park Resorts, has acquired South Lakeland Parks in a deal worth £47m. The deal will see Park Resorts take over the management of South Lakeland’s nine sites, making it the biggest holiday parks operator in the UK with 48 locations across England, Scotland and Wales. The nine, located in the Lake District and Morecambe Bay area, range from traditional caravan parks to bigger holiday villages complete with leisure facilities and direct access to Lake Windermere. Best Western Australasia Unveils Plans for Six More Hotels by End of 2013. Best Western Australasia has unveiled plans to continue its fast-paced expansion, reporting it could add up to six more hotels to its portfolio across Australia and New Zealand to total 183 hotels, apartments and resorts in Australasia by the end of 2013. The Australasia affiliate of the World’s Biggest Hotel Family opened six new hotels in Australia during August and September this year, three properties in New South Wales and three properties in Tasmania, continuing a period of unprecedented expansion for the brand in the past two months. The BEST WESTERN Ballina Island Motor Inn in Ballina, 20 minutes’ drive from Byron Bay in New South Wales is the newest addition to the hotel group. Rob Anderson, Best Western Australasia Chief Executive said the group is witnessing an important period of growth, with hotel bookings up 14 per cent over the past winter season compared to the same time last year. “Across Australia, New Zealand and Fiji, the demand for travel is increasing. Over the past three months, Best Western recorded its highest rate of hotel bookings for any winter season to date. As a result, we are expanding our accommodation offering by moving into new regions where people are looking for more opportunities to stay in a hotel that gives them a great mid-week experience or weekend away,” Mr Anderson said. Hilton unveils new project in the UAE. Hilton Worldwide opened Conrad Dubai in the United Arab Emirates earlier this month. The 555-room hotel is located near the city’s business and shopping district, as well as traditional landmarks like the Dubai International Financial Centre and Dubai World Trade Centre. Accommodations include deluxe rooms, executive rooms, and executive suites, and all rooms feature rain showers. The hotel also offers a mobile Conrad Concierge app that lets travelers customize their stay through a smartphone or tablet. Source: Hotels Mag
Wyndham, Grand City sign for 17 hotels in Europe. Wyndham Hotel Group announced the signing of 17 hotels representing over 2,300 guestrooms across Germany and Austria in association with Grand City Hotels. Adding to the agreement signed by the two companies in February this year to rebrand 43 hotels, the strategic alliance now extends to 60 hotels and over 7,500 guestrooms across four countries under the Wyndham Grand (seven properties), Wyndham (six), Wyndham Garden (17), TRYP by Wyndham (21) and Days Inn (nine) flags.
