Fairmont Hotels & Resorts has announced the appointment of Jane Mackie as vice president, Fairmont Brand.
In her new role, Mackie will lead the Fairmont brand, developing brand strategy, focusing on refining and articulating the brand positioning and communicating Fairmont Hotels & Resorts brand messaging. As part of her responsibilities, Mackie will also define strategies to further enhance Fairmont's competitive position in the luxury hotel segment. She will lead a dedicated brand team in setting brand standards for product, service and communications and will personally lead Fairmont's sustainability strategies.
Mackie brings over 20 years of hospitality experience to her new role including work in sales and marketing, brand strategy, partnerships and revenue generation. She began her career at Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide and held a series of progressive executive positions over her 11 years with the company, including vice president, advertising and promotions, North America and vice president, marketing, Sheraton Hotels & Resorts. Additional roles included vice president, marketing for Loews Hotels, Viceroy Hotels and Resorts and Cape Advisors/Cape Resorts Group. In 2011, she joined Club Quarters as staff vice president, revenue planning.
Mackie holds a MBA from New York University, Leonard N. Stern School of Business and a Bachelors Degree in Economics from Brown University.
Las Alamandas names Oscar Abel Rivero Estrada new General Manager
Las Alamandas, a beachfront hideaway on Mexico's Pacific coast, has appointed Oscar Abel Rivero Estrada its General Manager.
Rivero has 28 years of hospitality industry experience in Mexico, including serving in various positions with Hyatt Hotels in Acapulco, Cancun and Puerto Vallarta. He comes to Las Alamandas from the Hotel Costa Club Punta Arena, in Puerto Vallarta, where he served as general manager since 2002. Previously, he was the resident manager of the Hotel Villa Vera Spa & Racquet Club in Acapulco.
He earned degrees in Business Administration and Financial Administration from the Tecnológico de Acapulco, and in Hotel Marketing from the Tecnológico de Monterrey.
Christine Shanahan joins HVS Design as Director Of Design
HVS Design, an Interior Design firm specializing in the hospitality industry, has announced that Christine M. Shanahan has joined the firm as Director of Design.
As Director of Design, she will oversee and manage the staff of designers as well as be hands on with creating designs for the firms' numerous hospitality projects. Shanahan will be based out of the company's Rockville, Maryland office, just outside of Washington, DC.
Prior to joining HVS Design, Shanahan served as project director for J/Brice International as well as running her own full-service interior design firm, Studio East Design. In addition to hospitality, she has experience with commercial, industrial, health care, assisted living, and residential projects.
HVS Design is currently working on several hospitality projects across the country including the Westin Hotel in Wilmington, Delaware; the Hyatt Place in Southwest Washington, DC; and EVEN Hotel in Norwalk, Connecticut.
