Clive van Deventer has been appointed as General Manager - Accor Vacation Club Asia, in a move that signals plans for future growth and activity for the timeshare company in SE Asia, following a downturn due to the GFC.
A fully owned subsidiary of Accor, Accor Vacation Club now numbers over 30,000 members, 21 Club owned Hotels and Resorts in Australia, NZ and Bali, and over 100 staff.
Clive has a track record of successes within the Vacation Ownership industry within the South Pacific and Southern Africa Region. Now based at Accor Vacation Club's sales centre at the Novotel Nusa Dua Bali, Clive's team will be striving to increase Asia Club Membership, to allow the Club to expand to other parts of Asia, and increase benefits for all its Members.
Sheraton New York Times Square appoints Jesse Suglia Director of Sales and Marketing
The Sheraton New York Times Square Hotel has appointed Jesse Suglia as Director of Sales and Marketing. Suglia joins the newly- renovated hotel from Omni Hotels & Resorts, Kempinski Hotels and The Global Hotel Alliance and where he was Director, Travel Industry & International Sales and leading the New York Global Sales Center.
With more than 15 years working in the domestic and international group, business travel and leisure hotel travel segments, Suglia has held hotel sales positions in major cities including New York, Boston, Chicago and San Francisco. Suglia's prior roles with Omni Hotels & Resorts included Area Director of Sales & Marketing, Senior Director, Global Sales and Director, Global Business Travel Sales.
Suglia earned a B.A. in Hotel Management from the Isenberg School of Management at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and completed the Institute of Business Travel Management, Global Leadership Program at The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania.
Jan Lucas named Regional Vice President of Sage Hospitality's Select Service Division
Sage Hospitality has announced the internal promotion of Jan Lucas as Regional Vice President of the Select Service Division. In this role, Lucas will oversee 15-20 hotels nationwide, driving operational excellence while supporting Sage's aggressive growth strategy which includes its division of Select Service hotels.
Lucas has been with Sage Hospitality for 11 years, most recently serving as the general manager of the JW Marriott Denver Cherry Creek in Colorado. Other positions with Sage include divisional vice president of the Premier & Lifestyle division and general manager of the Residence Inn Denver City Center and Courtyard Denver Downtown. She also has more than 15 years of experience working directly for Marriott International.
Sage's Select Service Division recently added a portfolio of hotels in North Carolina, New Jersey and New York bringing their total number of managed hotels to 39, with one hotel on the way. The SpringHill Suites Downtown Oceanside hotel is under construction and will open in February in California.
