Sheraton Seoul D Cube City Hotel names Robyn Lee Director of Sales
Sheraton Seoul D Cube City Hotel has appointed Robyn Lee as its new Director of Sales. She joins the Sheraton Seoul D Cube City from the Starwood sales organization in Seoul, where she conducted business in national, regional and global markets, working with high net worth clients.
She started her career in the hospitality industry in 1998, and joined Starwood Hotels & Resorts in Seoul in 2005 as an Account Director. Her key role involved managing Korean national accounts by providing corporate travel solutions and conducting preferred hotel programs, achieving over USD 19 million in revenue for the year 2012. As Seoul is one of the top MICE destinations in Asia Pacific, Lee continued to drive new MICE and transient business, also promoting new opening properties especially in Asia Pacific to generate revenue to Starwood Hotels & Resorts worldwide.
Rotana makes executive changes to fuel aggressive expansion plans
Rotana, a hotel management company with a portfolio of properties across the Middle East, Africa, South Asia and Eastern Europe, has undergone big changes at the top as co-founder, Selim El Zyr passes the leadership on to Omer Kaddouri, the new President & CEO of Rotana. El Zyr will continue to serve in an advisory role as the Vice Chairman of the Board moving forward.
Kaddouri, the former Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer and 15-year Rotana veteran, will take the helm as the new President & CEO. In turn his own role has been taken over by Guy Hutchinson, who moves to Rotana from his previous role as Vice President Operations - India for Hilton.
The executive change is expected to pave the way for Rotana's aggressive expansion plans to operate 100 hotels by 2020. One of the key figures spearheading Rotana's expansion in recent years beyond the Middle East, Kaddouri has been credited with creating greater synergy among Rotana properties in all aspects of operations, and implementing approaches that have been critical to the success of Rotana's projects and its Food & Beverage concepts.
Joining the Rotana veterans at the top with a fresh perspective gained from working at a leading global hospitality company across a diverse variety of markets including Japan, Australia, China and India is Guy Hutchinson. The international hotelier's career is notable for its creative leadership and his success in change management, repositioning and building high performing teams.
El Zyr has headed the company since he co-founded it in 1992 together with Nasser Al Nowais, Chairman of Rotana. His managerial direction is credited with building Rotana's portfolio, which currently stands at 85 properties although the company already has close to 97 properties on its books.
Ongoing innovations at Rotana were aggressively driven by El Zyr, including a move into new products and services such as the introduction of the Arjaan Hotel Apartments by Rotana, Centro Hotels by Rotana and Rayhaan Hotels & Resorts by Rotana as well as its key partnerships forged with F&B franchises like the Blue Elephant, Trader Vic's and Benihana.
M&R Hotel Management appoints Manager for Staten Island Hotel
M&R Hotel Management of Great Neck, N.Y., has appointed Saul Castillo as general manager of the 93-room Comfort Inn hotel on Wild Avenue in Staten Island, N.Y., responsible for operations, sales, revenue management, marketing, guest relations, security, human resources, housekeeping and maintenance.
Castillo, a 20-year hospitality industry veteran, began his career as a bellman. Most recently, he was director of rooms at the Holiday Inn Express Kennedy Airport in Queens, N.Y., also operated by M&R Hotel Management. Castillo has worked at hotels in New England, California, New Orleans and the New York metropolitan area for hotels franchised by Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Hilton Worldwide and InterContinental Hotels Group.
A New York native, Castillo earned his bachelor's degree at New York University and is fluent in English, Spanish and Italian.
M&R Hotel Management also operates the adjacent 95-room Holiday Inn Express Staten Island West and is completing a 105-room Holiday Inn hotel next door. M&R's portfolio also includes three hotels in Manhattan, one at LaGuardia Airport and four at John F. Kennedy International Airport.
