Marriott Opens First Hotel in Sochi, Russia
Marriott International has opened a ski and spa hotel under its signature brand, Marriott Hotels, at the heart of the new Gorky Gorod ski resort in Krasnaya Polyana. The five-star Sochi Marriott Krasnaya Polyana Hotel is positioned at the foothills of the Caucasus Mountains within walking distance of ski slopes. The hotel is operated by an affiliate of U.S.-based Interstate Hotels & Resorts.
Spread over seven floors, the hotel's 428 rooms and suites come with complimentary internet and plasma TV with satellite reception. The River Café, the hotel's centrepiece restaurant, serves international cuisine with European, American, Russian and Asian influences. Italian pastas, risottos and pizzas can be enjoyed at The L'Olivio restaurant. Guests can also dine or sit with a glass of wine on the restaurant terraces, which provide outstanding views of the mountains.
One of the largest in the region, the SOUL spa is spread across 2,000square metres and houses nine treatment rooms, including private spa suites. Guests can personalise their treatment by choosing between the four elements: earth, air, fire and water. The range of services extends from traditional massages and treatments to a Snow Shower, where guests can enjoy hydro massage, aromatherapy, Turkish bath and Finnish sauna.
Private landscaped grounds face the mountains and feature a complex of indoor and outdoor pools. The hotel is an excellent choice for family holidays thanks to its kids club, children's menus, special swimming and play zones, and entertainment complexes for younger guests. The nearby Gorky Gorod entertainment centre features a water park complete with natural sandy beach, a cinema, a bowling alley, restaurants and cafes, and shops and boutiques.
Rates at Sochi Marriott Krasnaya Polyana start from 6,000 rubles (£108) a night.
