Sofitel Mumbai BKC appoints Biswajit Chakraborty as new General Manager
Sofitel Luxury Hotels has announced that Biswajit Chakraborty has been appointed the General Manager of their flagship property in India, Sofitel Mumbai BKC.
Sofitel Mumbai BKC is celebrating its 2nd anniversary in India, and Chakraborty will guide Sofitel Luxury Hotels venture into its next phase in India, with the development of luxury hospitality and new properties over the next five year period.
Responsible in overseeing all the activities of the hotel, Biswajit Chakraborty joins Sofitel with over 25 years of hospitality experience. He aims at increasing the luxury quotient through a series of unique events, performance, experience standards and personalised service at the Sofitel Mumbai BKC.
Prior to Sofitel Mumbai BKC, Chakraborty has played the role of a General Manager at other Asia properties for over a decade. The two Iconic Hotels the Yak and Yeti in Nepal, The Leela Kempinski Kovalam and Mumbai as well as the grand Mövenpick Hotel & Spa Bangalore are a few luxury hotels in India he has led. Under his reign, Mövenpick Hotels & Spa Bangalore was the first 5 star hotel to be certified as the first Green Globe Hotel in India. He has also been awarded the ‘General Manager of the Year' by Hotelier India in 2009 amongst many other honors. He held key positions in Sales and Marketing as DSM in Oberoi Hotels Bangalore, Delhi and Mumbai, as well as served the Taj Group.
Leadership change at Steigenberger Frankfurter Hof
Moritz Klein is to take over as the new Director of the Steigenberger Frankfurter Hof, the traditional flagship establishment of the Steigenberger Hotel Group. He will assume overall responsibility for the hotel with its 261 rooms and 42 suites.
After completion of initial vocational education and training at the Kempinski Hotel Vierjahreszeiten in Munich, Moritz Klein has spent over 20 years working overseas. He began his career as Assistant Front Office Manager in the Hotel Baltschug Kempinski in Moscow. This was followed by stints in Vietnam (Furama Resort Danang) and Brunei (The Empire Hotel & Country Club), where he was employed as Executive Assistant Manager on both occasions. In 2004, he took up the position of Resident Manager at the Beach Rotana in Abu Dhabi, a post to which he subsequently returned as General Manager in 2008, following a year spent at the Amwaj Rotana Jumeirah Beach in Dubai. Moritz Klein was appointed Area Vice President of Rotana Hotels LLC in Abu Dhabi in 2011 and in 2013 went on to become General Manager and Area General Manager for Abu Dhabi at the Eastern Mangroves Hotel & Spa by Anantara.
Moritz Klein takes over from Armin Schröcker. Born in Austria, Armin Schröcker managed the Frankfurter Hof, the traditional flagship establishment of the Steigenberger Hotel Group located in the city centre of Frankfurt, for a period of just under three years. In 2012, he exercised a lead management function in the extensive renovation and conversion works to which the rooms and suites owe their present design.
Thomas Meding new Area VP of SBE's Florida hotel portfolio
SBE is pleased to announce the promotion of Thomas Meding to Area Vice President. Transitioning from his former role as Area General Manager, Meding will now oversee sbe's full Miami hotel portfolio. In his new position, Meding will lead over 850 employees; guide, train and develop leadership teams; and ensure the financial performance of each venue. sbe's Florida hotel portfolio includes SLS Hotel South Beach, The Raleigh Hotel and the recently opened Redbury South Beach.
Meding's 3-year tenure with sbe has focused on hotel operations-serving as a Director of Hotel Operations for sbe in Los Angeles, and prior to that, serving as the General Manager of SLS Beverly Hills.
Prior to joining the sbe Hotel Group, for six years he served as the General Manager of Le Parker Meridien Palm Springs, California. Before that, Meding held senior executive positions within the Ritz Carlton, Fairmont, and Four Seasons portfolios, as well as The Waldorf Astoria and The St. Regis Hotel in New York.
Meding first began his career in Germany with Intercontinental Hotels and then relocated to San Francisco to attend Golden Gate University for degrees in Hotel, Restaurant & Institutional Management.
Ce Ce Moore appointed Director of Human Resources at Four Seasons Resorts Lanai
Four Seasons Resorts Lanai is pleased to announce the appointment of Ce Ce Moore as Director of Human Resources for both Manele Bay and The Lodge at Koele. In her new role, Moore will oversee all aspects of the human resources division between the two luxury properties, including recruiting, benefits, training, and labor relations.
Moore, a 31-year veteran of Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts, joins Four Seasons Resorts Lanai from the Ritz Carlton Chicago, a Four Seasons Hotel, where she held the position of Director of Human Resources for the past decade. Prior to Chicago, Moore's career has taken her to Four Seasons properties across North America, including Seattle, Austin and Dallas in the Director of Human Resources position. Moore began her career at Four Seasons Hotel Seattle as a coordinator.
