M&C acquires Novotel New York Times Square
Millennium & Copthorne Hotels plc ("M&C"), a global hotel company, which owns, asset manages and/or operates a worldwide portfolio of over 100 hotels, has announced that it has entered into a conditional agreement to acquire the 34-story Novotel New York Times Square for $273.6 million. Completion of the acquisition is expected to occur during the second quarter of 2014.
Located in the heart of the city's theatre district, the four-star property offers 480 guest rooms and will continue to be managed by the Accor Group under the Novotel brand. Built in 1981, extensive renovations of all guest rooms, public spaces and service areas were completed in 2013.
This Novotel will be M&C's fourth hotel in Manhattan, the others being ONE UN New York, Millennium Broadway Hotel New York and Millenium Hilton. M&C's North American portfolio comprises 18 owned and managed hotels, including the 13 hotels under the Millennium Hotels and Resorts brand.
Ascend Hotel Collection adds five new hotels in the US
Ascend Hotel Collection from Choice Hotels International has announced the addition of five US hotels to the brand portfolio.

Choice Hotels Australasia adds five new properties
Choice Hotels Australasia has announced it has added five new properties across New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia and Victoria to its rapidly expanding stable.
Choice Hotels Australasia has 270 hotels across Australia, New Zealand and Singapore, with in excess of 14,000 rooms. Choice Hotels is a 100 per cent owned subsidiary of Choice Hotels International, a publicly listed company in the United States with more than 6,100 hotels and 495,000 rooms in more than 30 countries and territories.
Firm to manage construction of Luxury Collection Grand Towers Ikoyi
Robert Dyson & Diket has appointed FEBC for the Project Management and Cost Management Services for the Luxury Collection brand of Starwood to be called Grand Towers Ikoyi in Lagos Nigeria.
The project involves the construction of two towers. The first is a five star hotel comprising 316 guest rooms, 64 suites and penthouses, meeting rooms, five F&B outlets, banquet hall and a Buddha Bar, the first in Nigeria. The other tower is a mix of residential and offices at a total construction budget of 300 million US$. FEBC will also be responsible for the procurement management services of both the FF&E and OS&E for this high quality luxury hotel.
