Dorsett Shepherds Bush appoints Hilary Cross as General Manager
Dorsett Hospitality International has appointed Hilary Cross as General Manager for Dorsett Shepherds Bush, the group's first hotel venture in Europe, set to open in May 2014.
In her capacity as General Manager, Hilary has overall responsibility for the pre-opening activities, strategic business planning and the post opening hotel operations and performance.
With more than 24 years of experience in hotel management in the United Kingdom, Hilary was most recently the General Manager for K West Hotel & Spa, London and had worked at St Martins Lane Hotel and Kensington Close prior. Hilary holds a Higher National Diploma in Hotel Catering & Institutional Management from Brighton.
Dorsett Shepherds Bush will be the newest addition to the Dorsett Hospitality International portfolio when it opens in May 2014. Located within a Grade II listed building formerly housing a cinema, the hotel will offer 317 rooms, a gourmet Chinese dining experience, a stylist results-driven Spa and an ideal location for both business and leisure guests in well-connected West London.
Bassam Abu Hassan new Hotel Manager for Holiday Inn Resort Dead Sea
Mr. Oussama Massoud, Regional General Manager for InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) in Jordan and Palestine announced the promotion of Bassam Abu Hassan to the position of Hotel Manager of Holiday Inn Resort Dead Sea.
Abu Hassan enjoys over 20 years of experience in the hospitality industry, specifically with IHG, in which he started out at InterContinental Jordan, and grew with IHG in its various properties in Jordan including InterContinental Aqaba Resort, and recently Crowne Plaza Amman.
Foundations Hospitality appoints Mike Adkins Chief Operating Officer
Foundations Hospitality has announced that Mike Adkins, a former member of the Hampton Hotels Brand Performance Support team, will be their first Chief Operating Officer. For the past six years, Mike has held various positions within the Hampton brand team from supporting over 125-hotels in the Mid-Atlantic region to being part of the centralized BPS team that supported all 1,900-Hampton Hotels around the world in the areas of product and service.
During his tenure with Hilton Worldwide, Mike won the prestigious "Spirit of Hampton" award, the 2nd highest honor a team member can receive, after being nominated by one of his General Managers. Mike has also served as the primary facilitator of the Guest Loyalty segment in Hampton GM Leader program for the past 4 years.
Prior to joining the Hilton Worldwide team, Mike worked with multiple brands including Courtyard by Marriott and Best Western.
Ascott appoints Managing Director for Europe and India
The Ascott Limited has appointed Alfred Ong as Managing Director for Europe and India. Ong, who previously held the position of Managing Director for Strategic Development, is now responsible for managing Ascott's assets and growing its hospitality business in Europe and India.
Alfred Ong has been with Ascott for 15 years, rising through the management ranks to become Managing Director for Southeast Asia and Australia in 2009. In 2013, he took on the role of Managing Director for Strategic Development and concurrently oversaw Ascott's Vietnam and India operations.
Ascott has more than 33,000 apartment units in over 200 properties. Its portfolio spans 82 cities across more than 20 countries in Asia Pacific, Europe and the Gulf region. In Europe, Ascott has more than 5,400 apartment units in 46 properties across Belgium, France, Georgia, Germany, Spain and the UK. In India, Ascott has more than 1,600 in 8 properties across key cities including Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Chennai, Gurgaon and Hyderabad.

Airlie Center promotes Jeremy Anderson to Executive Chef
Airlie General Manager Kevin Carter is proud to announce the promotion of Jeremy Anderson as Executive Chef. A member of the culinary team for over 9 years, Anderson has worked hand-in-hand with Culinary Director Jeff Witte who served as Executive Chef for 11 years.
Anderson's Neo-American style is centered on local and seasonal ingredients, either grown at Airlie's own Local Food Project or provided by local farmers. He is responsible for the establishment of the house made bread production, house preserves and jams, and created the 5-course menu concept the property offers as part of a signature weekend package program for social and leisure guests.
Anderson will be working as part of the leadership team to launch a new restaurant concept in late 2014. Additionally, his culinary team will be designing new catering menus and specialty menus for holiday and seasonal events.
Anderson earned a culinary diploma from the Art Institute of Washington. While at Culinary school, Jeremy was recognized with the Art Institute's Washingtonian Award. The honor recognizes the student for outstanding work during training. With an artistic background, he has been able to combine his love for cooking and creativity. Prior to joining Airlie he began honing his culinary talents at several popular restaurants in the region.
