Ernesto Floro new Director of Sales & Marketing at Carlyle
Rosewood Hotels & Resorts has appointed Ernesto Floro to Director of Sales & Marketing for The Carlyle, a Rosewood Hotel in New York City. In this role, he is responsible for developing and implementing sales and marketing strategies for the property.
Ernesto joins the team with over 13 years of New York luxury hospitality sales experience under his belt. After receiving his Bachelor of Science in Hotel and Tourism Management from New York University, Ernesto's hotel career began at The Peninsula where he was a sales manager for six years before becoming their Regional Director of Sales. After his time with The Peninsula, Ernesto went on to become the Director of Corporate and Entertainment Sales for The St. Regis New York. Most recently, Ernesto held the position of Director of Sales and Marketing at The Mark, also located on the Upper East Side.
Paul Gibson named GM of Crowne Plaza San Marco Golf Resort
Veteran Phoenix-area hospitality executive Paul Gibson has been appointed general manager of Crowne Plaza San Marcos Golf Resort in Chandler, Arizona, announced Gary Gutierrez, president of HRI Lodging, which assumed management of the historic resort earlier this year.
Previously, Gibson worked 19 years for Richfield Hotel Management as a general manager of several of the company's properties, including the Fourwinds Resort and Marina in Bloomington, Indiana, one of the country's largest inland marinas, with more than 1,000 boat slips.
He also worked three years for Servico Hotel Management Company. His career included assignments in some of the nation's most popular resort markets, including Catalina Island, Palm Springs and Hilton Head Island.
Sage Hospitality announces John Carter as Corporate Director of Sales
Sage Hospitality has promoted John Carter to Corporate Director of Sales for the Select Service Division.
In this new position, Carter will oversee sales and revenue generation for a diverse portfolio of Select Service hotels under management contracts with Sage. Other responsibilities will include mentoring sales managers and growing leaders within the company and positioning properties strategically to drive optimal sales and revenue results.
Carter has been with Sage Hospitality for 10 years in the Denver area, beginning as the Regional Sales Manager for a portfolio of TownePlace Suites by Marriott branded hotels. He has also served as the Director of Sales and Marketing at the Courtyard by Marriott Denver Downtown and then became Area Director of Sales for the Courtyard, as well as the Residence Inn Denver City Center and TownePlace Suites Denver Downtown.
President and CEO of Summit Hotel Properties, Dan Hansen, named to the American Hotel & Lodging Association Board of Directors
Summit Hotel Properties has announced that President and CEO, Dan Hansen, has been named to the American Hotel & Lodging Association (AH&LA) 2014 board of directors. The new board of directors is comprised of C-level lodging executives representing the full scope of the lodging sector, including brands, owners and REITs, management companies, independents and state associations. A new board was selected to reflect the completely new strategic direction and membership model passed last June by a vote of association members.
Serving the hospitality industry for more than a century, the American Hotel & Lodging Association (AH&LA) is the sole national association representing all segments of the 1.8 million-employee U.S. lodging industry, including hotel owners, REITs, chains, franchisees, management companies, independent properties, state hotel associations and industry suppliers. DiamondRock promotes Briony R. Quinn to Chief Accounting Officer
DiamondRock Hospitality Company has announced the promotion of Briony R. Quinn to Chief Accounting Officer.
Quinn joined the Company in June 2007 as its Vice President and Assistant Corporate Controller and was promoted to Vice President and Corporate Controller in September 2008. Prior to joining the Company, she was the Vice President, Finance and Accounting at MeriStar Hospitality Corporation. Quinn has a broad range of professional experience, including positions at Arthur Andersen LLP and Beers + Cutler. She is a certified public accountant and received a Bachelor of Science degree from Providence College.
