Two new hotels mark IHG's return to Rio de Janeiro
InterContinental Hotels Group makes its return to the Rio de Janeiro market with the signing of the new-build Holiday Inn Porto Maravilha and Holiday Inn Express Porto Maravilha hotels. The 32-story hotels will be located in Rio de Janeiro's revitalized downtown area of Porto Maravilha. The hotels, owned by Odebrecht Realizaçöes Imobiliárias and FII PM Caixa Fundo de Investimento Imobiliário Porto Maravilha, will be managed by IHG.
The 244-room Holiday Inn Porto Maravilha and 350-room Holiday Inn Express Porto Maravilha will be situated in the heart of Porto Maravilha. Museums, parks and new restaurants are opening nearby as the area undergoes its restoration plan before the 2016 Summer Olympics is hosted in Rio de Janeiro. Both hotels are expected to open by July 2016 for the Olympic games.
The new hotels will be designed in line with the Holiday Inn Brand Family's $1 billion global brand relaunch. The relaunch comprises emphasis on arrival and welcome services, guestroom and guest bath comfort and a redesigned logo and signage. Both hotels will share the same tower and operational area, allowing the operational synergies and economies of scale to manage these properties.
Holiday Inn and Holiday Inn Express brand hotels feature an atmosphere that is warm, trend forward and comfortable. Guest beds are made using crisp, white bedding with pillows that come in two comfort levels: "soft" and "firm." The residential design will include business-focused necessities such as an ergonomic workstation and data ports. The bathrooms include a multifunctional showerhead, as well as a signature shower curtain with curved shower rod, and bath amenities. Additionally, each room will feature standard Holiday Inn and Holiday Inn Express brand guestroom accommodations - comfortable double, queen or king-sized beds, a sitting area with a lounge chair, hairdryer, micro fridge, coffee maker, iron and ironing board.
Shanghai Marriott Hotel Parkview now open
Marriott International continues its expansion in China with the opening of the 317-room Shanghai Marriott Hotel Parkview, bringing the total number of properties in China under the flagship Marriott Hotels brand to 15. Marriott International manages the Shanghai Marriott Hotel Parkview under a long-term agreement with the owner, Shanghai Bao Hua Group.
The hotel is situated next to the Multimedia Valley in Zhabei District and offers two full-sized pillar-less ballrooms, as well as a wide selection of large conference spaces with 2,800 square-meters of meeting space on one floor.
The Shanghai Marriott Hotel Parkview offers 317 rooms and suites that feature views of the park, all with a modern and fresh design by interior design firm Hirsch Bedner Associates. The hotel also provides brand new room amenities by Thann, the natural Thai skincare line.
The larger of the hotel's two pillar-less ballrooms measures 1,400 square-meters and features two state-of-the-art 65sqm LED screens, while the other measures 1,000 square-meters and also provides one LED screen. Five flexible function rooms are perfect for small to medium sized sophisticated corporate events. The hotel's dedicated wedding planning services coupled with its panoramic views across what is Shanghai's biggest downtown parkland makes it the ideal location for a city wedding.
The hotel is home to four signature food and beverage outlets. These include Shanghai City Bistro, an all-day dining restaurant featuring live action cooking stations showcasing traditional favorites and cuisines from around the world. The prestigious Man Ho Chinese Restaurant specializes in authentic Cantonese and Shanghainese cuisine. Eight private dining rooms provide an exclusive and comfortable backdrop for a more intimate gathering of friends and family or for entertaining large or small groups; Tatsumi is a stylishly-designed contemporary Japanese & Korean dining experience hidden away on the hotel's second floor offering a tasteful blend of north Asian delicacies.
Guests can also relax in The Lounge which serves a selection of soft drinks and signature afternoon tea sets in The Lobby, an engaging setting where business and leisure intersect.
The hotel's premium amenities include a 24-hour fitness center and indoor swimming pool, as well as access to a golf practice green and a tennis court.
High up on the 25th floor alongside the executive rooms and suites, the Executive Lounge offers business services as well as complimentary food and drinks for Executive Floor guests.
Six Senses to open on the private island of Félicité in the Seychelles
Six Senses Hotels Resorts Spas announces their first resort in the Seychelles called Six Senses Zil Pasyon. Scheduled to open in 2015, the resort is located on the private island of Félicité. The island is approximately 55 kilometers, or 30 nautical miles northeast of Mahe, with access by helicopter from the International Airport or a short boat ride from neighbouring La Digue and Praslin islands.
Crowne Plaza Barcelona - Fira Center opens
InterContinental Hotels Group has opened Crowne Plaza Barcelona - Fira Center. The hotel will operate under a franchise agreement with Hotel Fira S.A.U. The 276-room hotel is located between the famous "Plaza de España" and Gran Via Avenue.
Guests at Crowne Plaza Barcelona - Fira Center can spend their evening relaxing in Scruples, the Piano Bar which serves a variety of cocktails, sampling the exquisite Mediterranean cuisine of the El Mall restaurant or enjoying the varied menu of L'Aria restaurant. L'Aria restaurant also hosts the daily buffet breakfast.
Crowne Plaza Barcelona - Fira Centre is ideal for large groups and events with 18 meeting rooms which have a capacity from 10 to 1,200 people, executive private areas and a new Club Lounge. Throughout the hotel all guests will be able to access free premium WiFi and all rooms have a 55inch Smart TV, a Nespresso machine and either a king bed or two queens. In addition guests can enjoy the sauna, gymnasium and swimming pool at the hotel.
Value Place opens new hotel property in Jacksonville, Florida
Value Place has announced the grand opening of a newly constructed hotel in Jacksonville, Fla. The four-story, 124-room property is positioned nine miles north of downtown Jacksonville, just off I-95 at Dunn Avenue.
Value Place Jacksonville North was developed with efficient design elements such as LED lighting, easily-maintained sound-dampening laminate wood flooring, and energy-conscious appliances. The hotel design lowers operating costs while providing guests an affordable, clean, and safe experience. Amenities available in each room include a large flat-screen TV, high-speed wireless internet, a full kitchen, and many other features that provide guests a comfortable stay for an extended period of time.
Extended-stay hotels are an appealing option for government employees, military personnel, business travelers, and construction workers, since their careers require them to travel and stay for extended periods of time. Retirees, students, tourists, and those relocating to the Jacksonville area can also appreciate the value of an extended-stay offering.
This hotel is one of three Value Place properties currently open in the Jacksonville area. The Cromwell opens as Las Vegas Strip's first stand-alone boutique hotel
New Las Vegas hotel, The Cromwell, is set to welcome its first guests beginning May 21, 2014. With its prime location on one of the busiest intersections of the Las Vegas Strip - one that welcomes more than 20 million passersby each year - The Cromwell Hotel and Casino will offer a luxury Las Vegas hotel experience in an intimate boutique hotel setting:
Owned and operated by Caesars Entertainment, The Cromwell is a $185 million renovation and re-imagination of the former Bill's Gamblin' Hall & Saloon. Architect, Leo A. Daly and Las Vegas-based design studio, Tandem Las Vegas, designed The Cromwell to blend vintage with modern. One of the most noticeable exterior features is the black Parisian-style awnings and ornate black railings, repurposed from the original structure, punctuating each room window.
The 169 standard accommodations evoke a residential feel with distressed hardwood flooring and vintage luggage, trunk-style furnishings Custom photographic artwork by the acclaimed Deborah Anderson will evoke a sentiment of allure. Adding to the whimsical motif are black-and-white mosaic-tiled showers with playful English-French phrases adorning the walls. PetStay rooms and suites will be available, providing pet-friendly accommodations for guests travelling with dogs under 50 pounds.
To accommodate the 65,000 square-foot rooftop pool and nightclub, two floors were added to the top of the existing structure. Additional structural support, which doubles as an elevator leading up to the rooftop pool and nightclub, was also added to north side of the building. Two oversized, elevated pools will be centralized within the outdoor space, lined with daybeds, cabanas and VIP bungalows. Additional VIP areas will offer secluded options with prime Strip views, a private pool and additional VIP seating.
Adding to the prestigious Anthology Las Vegas Suites & Villas collection, The Cromwell will introduce 19 suites, available for guest booking. Suites range in size from 723 square-feet, up to the 2,550 square-foot Cromwell Suite and are strategically positioned for guests to enjoy great views of the Las Vegas Strip from multiple vantage points. All suites are equipped with a full-size refrigerator, wet bars that can be stocked based on guest preference, steam showers, Toto Neorest toilet system and deep soaking tubs.
