Mandarin Oriental announces three new management contracts
Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group announced three new management contracts for luxury hotels to be developed in the primary cities of Paris, Taipei and Guangzhou. All three hotels are planned to open in 2010.
“The announcement of three new Mandarin Oriental hotels is an exciting development for our Group and reflects the strength of our brand today. We are moving closer to our goal of building the Group to at least 10,000 rooms worldwide while consolidating our position as one of the world’s pre-eminent luxury hotel brands,” said Edouard Ettedgui, Group Chief Executive of Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group.
The Group is the award-winning owner and operator of 20 luxury hotels with a further  under development. In total, Mandarin Oriental now operates, or has under development, more than 9,000 rooms in  countries with  hotels in Asia, 12 in the Americas and [seven] in Europe and North Africa.
MANDARIN ORIENTAL TO OPEN A PALACE HOTEL IN PARIS
Mandarin Oriental International Limited today announced that the Group has reached agreement with Société Foncière Lyonnaise (‘SFL’) to manage a luxury hotel in Paris, which is planned to open in late 2010. The agreement is conditional on the development of the hotel site receiving city planning approvals, which are currently under negotiation.
The Group has signed a long-term lease with SFL, the owner and developer of the property , and has committed approximately US$40 million for furniture, fixtures, equipment and pre-opening costs, which will be invested from 2009 onwards and funded from the Group’s cash resources.
Mandarin Oriental, Paris will position itself amongst the palace hotels of the city. The hotel will showcase the best in luxury design with a strong sense of place. Enjoying a pre-eminent address at 247-251 rue Saint Honor é , in the historic and fashionable centre of the city, the hotel will be located within the re-development of a 1930’s art deco building. The ideal location will provide easy access to the city’s finest shopping, dining and cultural venues. The hotel is surrounded by luxury fashion retailers and is a short walk to the Place Vendome. Internationally renowned Jean Michel Wilmotte has been appointed as the project architect.
The hotel will comprise 150 luxurious guestrooms and suites which will be amongst the largest in the city. An expansive inner courtyard will be a prime feature of the property, along with an extensive choice of restaurants, cocktail lounges and bars. Meetings, private parties and other gatherings will be accommodated in elegant banqueting facilities. The Spa at Mandarin Oriental, Paris will offer holistic rejuvenation and relaxation in a tranquil setting. An indoor swimming pool and fully equipped fitness centre will further add to the hotel’s leisure facilities.

MANDARIN ORIENTAL ANNOUNCES NEW LUXURY HOTEL IN TAIPEI
Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group has today announced that it will manage a new 300-room luxury hotel in the heart of the Taipei’s central financial and business district.
Mandarin Oriental, Taipei will be designed with a contemporary, elegant interior style reflective of the Group’s oriental heritage. The generously appointed guestrooms will be among the largest in Taipei and will enjoy spectacular views of the city. All guestrooms will feature state-of-the-art entertainment and customer-centric technology systems, a hallmark of Mandarin Oriental hotels worldwide.
An expansive 20,000 sq. ft spa will offer holistic rejuvenation and relaxation in a tranquil, meditative setting. Incorporating the most comprehensive range of wellness, beauty and massage treatments in Taipei, The Spa at Mandarin Oriental will feature life-enhancing signature programmes that are exclusive to the Group as well as significant water and heat therapies. A sophisticated fitness centre and outdoor swimming pool will also be available.
The hotel will feature four exceptional restaurants and two bars including authentic Cantonese and Italian cuisine served in stylish surroundings. A Mandarin Oriental signature gourmet Cake Shop will also be a prominent feature of the property. Extensive banquet and conference facilities will be ideally suited for meetings and private functions.
The overall project is owned by Mandarina Crown Hotel Co. Ltd. The renowned hospitality design consultants, Wimberly Allison Tong & Goo, have been appointed as the design architect.

MANDARIN ORIENTAL ANNOUNCES NEW LUXURY HOTEL IN GUANGZHOU
Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group today announced that it has signed an agreement to manage a luxury hotel in Guangzhou. The hotel will be part of the prestigious TaiKoo Hui mixed-use complex, currently under construction in the Tianhe Central Business District. The overall project is being developed by Swire Properties and the hotel is scheduled to open in 2010.
Mandarin Oriental, Guangzhou will be part of a 450,000 square metre landmark development which will comprise premier luxury retail, office space, a cultural arts centre. The development will be connected to the city’s major transport systems with direct linkage to Metro Line 1 and Line 3.
Mandarin Oriental, Guangzhou will be designed as an elegant, contemporary hotel, featuring 340 spacious guestrooms and suites and 70 serviced apartments, all of which will be equipped with the Group’s signature in-room technology and sophisticated entertainment systems.
The property will feature six dining and cocktail venues ranging from a chic signature restaurant, an all-day dining venue, a Cantonese restaurant, a Mandarin Oriental Cake Shop, an elegant Lobby Lounge and a cocktail and entertainment bar. The hotel will also feature spacious meeting and function facilities, including an extensive 750 square metre ballroom.
The Spa at Mandarin Oriental, Guangzhou will offer the Group’s signature holistic rejuvenation and relaxation treatments in a tranquil, meditative setting. Incorporating 10 private treatment rooms, the Spa will provide a comprehensive range of wellness, beauty and massage programmes. The overall 1,500 square metre spa and health facilities will also encompass a fully-equipped gymnasium.
The project owner is TaiKoo Hui ( Guangzhou) Development Company Limited, in which Swire Properties Limited holds a 97% majority stake.

It is also a city surrounded by beautiful natural landscapes, mountains, hot springs and national parks. As part of TaiKoo Hui , Mandarin Oriental, Guangzhou will be ideally located in the heart of the urban district with access to myriad attractions, including shopping, sports, fine dining and entertainment for both leisure and business travellers. The hotel will be open in time for the 16th Asian Games which will be held in the city in November 2010.
