French Quarter Hospitality has acquired the 174-acre Del Lago Resort & Conference Center (pictured) north of Houston, and will initiate an extensive renovation program on the property, which opened in the mid-1980's.
The sales price for the property was not disclosed, but it went to market with a listed price of $36 million.
The property contains an 18-hole golf course, approximately 130,000 square feet of conference center space, a 320-suite tower, and a 300-slip marina.
French Quarter Hospitality specializes in renovating and repositioning complex resort operations, and incorporating themed restaurant concepts into these properties. The group was able to work with both Conroe and Montgomery County government officials to receive tax abatements for revitalization of the property. In a statement, French Quarter said they expect the refurbished resort to attract over 200,000 visitors annually, and bring 400 jobs to the area.
