Hong Kong’s WOM (‘wordomouth’) Guide to local restaurants has unveiled a new-look www.womguide.com website.
New innovations from the dining ‘bible’ of reviews from 2,000 website contributors include a new ‘WOM Choice’ section – highlighting recommended venues for special occasions, quenching your thirst, satisfying cravings, serving special needs and “to treat or be treated”.
In a funky style designed to be even more user-friendly, Hong Kong’s first survey-based dining guide also extends its ‘Editor's Choice’ section with restaurants highly recommended by the publishers, Fergus Fung and Samanta Pong.
Website members who contribute reviews can now also keep track of their comments with a new archive recording their history of reviews.
The website features over 1,000 independent restaurant reviews, 50 categories of WOM Choice, as well as ‘foodie’ articles, recommendations of Hong Kong’s top restaurants, plus reviews of selected overseas restaurants.
“WOM’s unique niche is based on the integrity of reviews,” said co-publisher Fergus Fung. “We accept no endorsements, advertising, kickbacks, payment or favours from restaurants.
“Our mission is to whet appetites for both cheap eats and gourmet dining, while offering visitors from abroad a more comprehensive, balanced view of Hong Kong’s dining scene.”
Members submit regularly updated, candid comment on their dining experiences -- rating food, drinks, service and ambiance separately.
WOM launches the inaugural 'WOM Hong Kong Restaurant Awards" in October 2007, coinciding with publication of its third edition. WOM Guide is also planning a new "e-newsletter" for website members.
To celebrate the launch of the new WOM website, there will be a special promotional event at Bookazine and Kelly & Walsh on 8 and 13 Aug 2007 where drinks and food will be served. Details of both events are as follows:
