Four Seasons Hotel Istanbul has a reputation for winning top prizes, a well-deserved reputation for what is not really a very large place, it has only 65 rooms. Its most recent award is its being chosen Europe's Best Hotel by the 4.8 million people who read Travel & Leisure magazine.
The award was presented at a ceremony held in New York. What makes this prize so special is that the choice is made as a result of the magazine readers' votes. The criteria on which the votes are based include physical characteristics, the quality of service and food and drink and location. The Four Seasons Istanbul achieved the highest score receiving 93.55 points. The points also secured the hotel's selection as the Fourth Best Hotel in the world.
At the same time Istanbul was chosen as the Third Best City in Europe. This was the 12th annual poll conducted by Travel & Leisure. The poll tries to discover what its readers think, which is the best hotel that goes an extra mile all the way to the companies that make the trip worthwhile.
Regional Director and Four Seasons Hotel Istanbul's General Manager Marcos Bekhit was in New York to accept the award. He attributed the winning of the award that brought pride and happiness, to the success of the hotel's personnel. "Our biggest secret and source of strength is the personality of our workers, their education and their approach to guests", he said. The Four Seasons is planning to open its second hotel in Istanbul on the Bosporus in Beşiktaş at the end of this year. Bekhit said that when it opens it will turn the hotel sector in Istanbul upside down.
The hotel has also been named the best hotel in Europe by the 385,000 readers of Conde Nast Traveler Magazine.
