Swimming for a cause

All physically fit swimmers and bighearted sponsors are invited to join the 4th Cross Bay Charity Swim on 11 November 2007, Sunday. On its fourth year, the charity swim organized by the Rotary Club of Jomtien-Pattaya and Dusit Thani Pattaya, will see people go for a dip into Pattaya Bay's waters to raise money for charity.
Swimmers of different nationalities make the 3.5-kilometer journey across Pattaya Bay from Bali Hai Sea Rescue Station to Chaba Beach at Dusit Thani Pattaya. This year the charity swim introduces the 1.1-kilometer swim for junior and senior swimmers, starting from the beach in front of Hard Rock Hotel Pattaya to Chaba Beach at Dusit Thani Pattaya. Pattaya City Sea Rescue provides safety to swimmers in both categories.

Children from the orphanage cheer the swimmers.
Local businesses and individual donors have supported the event. All the money raised over the last three years was used for a small local orphanage.
This year, our major objective is to raise money to provide clean drinking water to public schools in Pattaya. Most schools rely on unfiltered rain water or water pump which can be contaminated. It is hoped that this charity event will attract more sponsors and participants this year to raise funds to supply reliable filtration systems and clean storage facilities to as many schools as possible.
