Just more than a year after re-opening, The Restaurant at Meadowood has been awarded two Michelin stars from the world-renowned Michelin Guide in the just-released 2008 San Francisco, Bay Area and Wine Country edition.
The only dining establishment to receive two stars in Napa Valley, The Restaurant is one of only six two star restaurants in Northern California. The classic guide to exceptional restaurants defines the two star experience as "excellent cuisine, worth a detour with skillfully and carefully crafted dishes of outstanding quality." It is a rare occurrence for a year-old restaurant to receive such merit.
"Our goal is to create food that weds the best traditions of Napa Valley with a modern approach that results in exceptional flavors," says Restaurant Manager Nathaniel Dorn. Our entire staff, including Restaurant Chef Joseph Humphrey and Sommelier Rom Toulon is committed to creating an exemplary experience."
The Restaurant, one of Napa Valley's newest dining experiences, features Napa Valley Cuisine, which is based on the innate goodness of regional ingredients. The menu changes regularly to reflect the most delicious market and garden ingredients of the day which are either grown on property or sourced as close to the property as possible. The Restaurant's philosophy of stewarding flavors can be likened to Napa Valley winemakers allowing the grapes to express themselves in finished wines. The resulting dishes are flavorful, fresh and healthy, offering intensity of flavor without heaviness. The Restaurant, in its first year, has received acclaim as one of the year's best dining experiences by the country's most respected restaurant and food writers.
The 2008 Michelin Guide says of Meadowood Napa Valley, "While Meadowood makes the perfect perch for Wine Country adventures, between the 9-hole golf course, 7 tennis courts, 2 croquet lawns, 2 pools, the fitness center and the full service spa, you may never want to leave the grounds. There's even a wine center (ask the staff to arrange vineyard picnics), and the resort's wine tutor holds tastings and seminars for guests."
