The Cordoba establishment also received nominations in the categories of "Best Architecture Conversion" and "Best Restaurant Interior Design".
The Hospes Palacio de Bailío Hotel in Cordoba has been awarded the prize for Best Interior Design of Bedrooms and Bathrooms in the SLEEP 07 European Hotel Design Awards, an annual event gathering the world's top hotel design professionals and which this year celebrates its 10th anniversary.
The jury's decision was made public during a gala ceremony at the Hotel Intercontinental Park Lane in London. Moreover, on November 13 and 14 that city's Old Billingsgate Market hosted a series of conferences on hotel management and design, all part of the most important European event dedicated to the hotel design sector. Also nominated in the same category were the Hotel Grace in Mykonos, the Marqués de Riscal in La Rioja and the Hotel Mystique on Santorini.
The award-winning Hospes Palacio del Bailío is a perfect combination of service and exceptional attention, design and comfort. Fundamentally built between the 16th and 18th centuries, the Hospes Palacio del Bailío was originally one of the large properties laid out in Cordoba after the Reconquista, and was officially declared to be of cultural interest in 1982, in the Monuments category. It counts 53 spacious rooms, ample garden areas and various patios, one of them over the vestiges of an ancient Roman residence, as well as welcoming and surprising meeting rooms. The decoration that caught the jury's eye is the work of the Hospes Design team, which was able to excellently match the historic aspect of a centuries-old building with the design, avant-garde atmosphere and comforts required by a five-star hotel in this 21st century.
Last year another one of this group's establishments, the Hospes Palacio de los Patos, was distinguished with the awards for Best Hotel Design and Best Architectural Conversion of an Existing Building, for which the Hospes Palacio del Bailío was also nominated this year.
Besides this recognition, the Hospes Palacio del Bailío has been included in the prestigious lists of the world's best new hotels published by the magazines Condé Nast Traveller (Hot List 2007) and Travel + Leisure (IT List 2007).
