Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts Africa division and Habitat for Humanity Africa & the Middle East, announced on August 22, 2008 the launch of the first house build in Chamazi, Mbagala area in Dar es Salaam.
The house build was done for Juma Maani, a 14 year old Primary School student, and his family, the house facilities includes: 2 bedrooms, a living area, a bathroom and a shower room.
The house was build with the help of more than 20 employees and guests of the Mövenpick Hotel Dar es Salaam, and around 12 media representatives, whom also attended the big event and contributed on putting a big smile on Juma and his family.
The unique partnership agreement that was signed last February between the Swiss based hotel chain, in their Africa Division, and the global non-profit housing organization, will help lot of families in need, in Tanzania and later on, in the other countries within the African region.
The partnership was kicked off during a cocktail reception on February 2nd, 2008, at the Mövenpick Royal Palm Hotel Dar es Salaam, followed by a press conference, attended by Royal Highnesses; the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester KG GCVO, Patrons of Habitat for Humanity Great Britain, the Board members of both Habitat for Humanity Tanzania and Great Britain and Habitat for Humanity Tanzania, and last but not least the management and employees of the Mövenpick Royal Palm Hotel Dar es Salaam.
Today Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts Africa division, mark a landmark in the progress on their first house-build on the August 22nd, 2008 in Chamazi, Mbagala which is located 20 Km away from Dar es Salaam. After commencing ‘house-build', further expansions in the future will be put into action, across other African divisions. This new venture, which unites two global brands, will work as one in order to provide affordable, decent housing to families in need.
Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts and Habitat for Humanity together as leaders hand in hand, will support and provide simple housing solutions for local communities in need. Both represent a great corporate citizenship by serving to establish, and build ‘Habitat for Humanity' homes. This in return will raise awareness about the vital need for a positively economical and healthy shelter for the families of Tanzania.
