For delegates to ITB Asia, Day passes worth SG$620 are available to the fourth edition of the WIT-Web In Travel in 2008 conference. Held on 21-22 October, with a programme packed with 67 speakers and more than 300 delegates, WIT-Web In Travel will deliver on its theme, "Ideas. Execution. Action." The conference, designed to educate delegates as to the future of travel marketing via the internet, promotes active participation and collaboration among members of the travel and hospitality industries.
"WIT is known for its vigorous debates, excellent speakers and it is the type of event where the content is serious but the attitude fun. That's why people come," answered WIT's Conference Producer, Yeoh Siew Hoon when asked what the event is about.
"In 2008, delegates will learn what's influencing the new Asian customers. We have sessions dedicated to social networking sites, rich media content and mobile applications with speakers representing for example, Google, Yahoo and DOCOMO interTouch. We know from surveys that we are tapping into exactly what tech, sales and marketing managers in the travel industry want to know," she added.
WIT-Web In Travel 2008 will see the return of some popular speakers from previous years, including Jim Donnelly, the founder of igougo.com who will share his insights about where the Internet is headed and what are the big ideas out there that could transform the online travel landscape.
Another distinguished speaker is Philip Wolf, the CEO of PhoCusWright. Sharp, analytical and embedded in the travel industry since 1994, when he founded PhoCusWright, Wolf is an authority on the travel distribution landscape and at WIT he will share the lessons he's learned and his pick of the best ideas and those yet to come.
Other highlights are the WIT Challenge and The WIT Debate, where well known figures in the Asian travel and tourism industry go head to head to outwit each other over questions posed by moderators and the audience.
New to 2008 is the WIT Start-Up Pitch, a competition where three finalists will be given a chance to pitch their ideas in 5 minutes each to a panel of investor judges and the audience will vote for the winner. The winner wins a Professional Development Program (PDP) voucher from the Cornell-Nanyang Institute of Hospitality Management (CNI) worth US$2,500 (valid for 2009) as well as the opportunity to take their winning idea to the next level with the investor judges.
