Philippe Bourguignon, a seasoned global executive with broad leadership experience in resorts, media and technology, will become Vice Chairman of Revolution Resorts, a new division of Steve Case's Revolution LLC to be launched in January.
Bourguignon was formerly Chairman of Aegis Media France, a leading media and communications group; co-CEO of the Davos-based World Economic Forum -- the meeting place for the world's most influential business and political leaders; Chairman and CEO, of Club Med, the pioneering resorts company that was restructured and expanded under Bourguignon's leadership; and CEO of EuroDisney, where he transformed a troubled theme park into a commercial success. Additionally, Bourguignon is a member of the board of directors of eBay, and has provided his insights during their rapid growth and expansion of the past five years.
"Revolution Resorts will be a very different kind of resorts company, and Philippe Bourguignon will play a critical role in building that company. His track record is unmatched as an innovative, strategic visionary in this field. We are thrilled to have him join the Revolution Resorts team," Case said. "Philippe gets us off to a very fast start in building a resorts company that will bring new choices, new products and new business models to consumers all over the world. "
"It is a privilege for me to join Steve Case and the team he is assembling at Revolution Resorts. I am a strong believer in the philosophy of transformative change that Revolution represents, and look forward to applying that philosophy to the resorts industry," Bourguignon said. "There is a great opportunity to be innovative in the way that consumers enjoy travel experiences and new places, and I am anxious to start working on these challenges early next year."
Bourguignon is expected to begin full-time with Revolution Resorts shortly after the first of the year.
Bourguignon will join Revolution Resorts, a new subsidiary of Revolution LLC, to be formally launched next year. Further details about its plans will be forthcoming at that time, but the company will include Revolution's current resort-related holdings, such as Exclusive Resorts LLC and the Miraval: Life in Balance resort in Tucson, plus some new endeavors in both resorts development and management. Capital for Revolution Resorts will come from Revolution LLC, as well as other sources.
