Marco Polo Hotels has made two executive appointments in preparation for the openings of its two new hotels in Cebu and Beijing.
Hans Hauri has been appointed General Manager, Marco Polo Plaza Cebu, the groupís second property in the Philippines.
A Swiss national, Mr. Hauri is a graduate of the Swiss Hotel-Management School in Lausanne and is fluent in English, German and French. Mr. Hauri is a seasoned hotelier having worked in the hospitality industry in Asia for 25 years. He started his Asia experience with The Peninsula and then Hilton International where he was General Manager for various properties in the Far East including Jakarta Hilton, Colombo Hilton and Seoul Hilton. Mr. Hauri joined the Shangri-La Hotels & Resorts in the 90sí. During his tenure with the group, Mr. Hauri was General Manager for various Shangri-La hotels in China including Shangri-La Beijing, China World Hotel Beijing and Shangri-La Hotel Century Tower in Dalian.
Prior to joining Marco Polo Hotels, Mr. Hauri was General Manager of the JC Mandarin Shanghai.
With 332 rooms, the Marco Polo Plaza, Cebu is scheduled to open in April 2006.
Eric Swanson has been appointed General Manager of the Marco Polo Parkside, Beijing, the groupís second hotel in Beijing. An American national, Mr. Swanson is fluent in English, French and Spanish and had over 20 years experience working in hotel projects worldwide. He started his hotel career with Ritz Carlton in the United States where he was a key member of the corporate opening team. He then moved on as Director of Sales & Marketing for The Ritz-Carlton in Seoul, Korea. He was promoted as General Manger responsible for the openings of numerous Ritz-Carlton hotels in destinations including Palm Beach and Miami in the United States and South Sinai in Egypt. Mr. Swanson was most recently General Manager of The Leela Palace Kempinski Hotel, Bangalore, India.
With 330 rooms, the Marco Polo Parkside is located 600 meters from the entrance to the Olympic Park, venue of the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing.
