November proved to be a month of equals in the hotel industry, with London and the regions posting almost identical fluctuations in occupancy and rooms yield, according to figures released by PKF hotel consultancy services.
PKF’s report for November shows that year on year average room rate in London was up 2.9% to £112.35 and occupancy was up 1.7% to 81.6%, pushing rooms yield up 4.7% to £91.72.
Outside London, November average room rate was up 2.6% to £67.79 and occupancy was up 2.2% to 74.4%. Rooms yield was up 4.8% to £50.
Robert Barnard, partner for hotel consultancy services at PKF, said: “We’ve seen steady increases everywhere in November, with almost identical percentage rises in occupancy and rooms yield in both London and the regions.”
“It’s good news to see that the UK industry as a whole is on track with a healthy performance across the board. With the holiday season upon us, hoteliers will be looking to build on this progress and make December a bumper Christmas for guests and hotel operators alike.”
