Starwood Hotels & Resorts bringing its W Brand to the Netherlands in 2015
Starwood Hotels & Resorts has announced it will debut its W Hotels brand in the Netherlands with the new W Amsterdam, scheduled to open in late 2015. Owned by STAG Europe (Grafenau) BV, the hotel will be located on the Dam Square in the heart of Amsterdam, behind the Royal Palace and just steps from the city's iconic canal district.
Amsterdam will provide an integrated contemporary lifestyle experience with 169 guestrooms, including 10 suites and one Extreme Wow Suite (the W brand's interpretation of the Presidential Suite). Upon entering the hotel, guests will be elevated directly to the rooftop, where they can check-in and enjoy a cocktail in the W Living Room (W's take on the hotel lobby where guests can mix and mingle).
An ideal venue, W Amsterdam will also offer 480 square metres of meeting and event space, including two Great Rooms and two smaller meeting rooms. In addition, W Amsterdam will have a fitness centre and a 24-hour business centre.
Following the debuts of W Hotels in Istanbul, Barcelona, St. Petersburg, London, Paris, and most recently Verbier, W Amsterdam will become the seventh W Hotel in Europe joining a portfolio of 45 W Hotels around the world and more than 20 in development.
New Marriott opens in Seoul
JW Marriott Hotels & Resorts has expanded its portfolio in South Korea with the unveiling of the new 170-room JW Marriott Dongdaemun Square Seoul. The new hotel is the second JW Marriott to open in Seoul and the first hotel in the city to receive LEED Gold certification.
Located in the heart of Seoul's fashion district and adjacent to the subway station and key tourist attractions, the new JW Marriott Dongdaemun Square Seoul has unobstructed views of Korea's number one national treasure - the historical Dongdaemun or "East Gate."
The new hotel has 170 guestrooms, including 19 Executive Sky View Rooms and 15 Suites. A dedicated Executive Lounge with an open balcony serves the Executive Floor rooms. Among the hotel's health and fitness facilities are an indoor25-meter lap pool, the exclusive Club 501 Fitness Centre and the The JW Spa.
The hotel's food and beverage program is curated by a team of professionals from France, Germany, the US and Korea. Among the highlights is BLT Steak, of the internationally renowned New York steakhouse; Tavolo 24, a casual all-day dining restaurant featuring live cooking stations; The Lounge which specializes in artisan chocolates, martinis and afternoon tea and Seoul Baking Company, which serves fresh cakes and pastries from its open kitchen.
With a total of 10,570 square feet of meeting space and a Grand Ballroom that can accommodate up to 750 guests, the meetings facilities have Seoul's first ultra-high definition 98-screen media wall.
Hilton signs management agreement for first Conrad Hotel & Resorts property in India with Conrad Pune
Hilton Worldwide has announced the signing of a management agreement with Palm Grove Beach Hotels Pvt. Ltd., a wholly owned subsidiary of the K. Raheja Constructions Group, to open Conrad Pune, the first Conrad Hotels & Resorts branded hotel in India. The launch of Conrad Pune in Maharashtra next year will mark the brand's entry into the country.
Conrad Pune will tower over Mangaldas Road, strategically located within the central business district of Pune. It will be minutes from the commercial and entertainment hubs in Kalyani Nagar, prime government institutions in Yerwada and premier residential neighborhoods of Koregaon Park and Bund Garden. Kharadi and Ganeshkind Road will be within eight kilometres of the hotel and the Pune International Airport six kilometres away.
The hotel will feature 310 guestrooms with the latest in-room technology and six-fixture marble baths. Guests at the hotel will have the choice of six contemporary dining outlets. The 16,200-square foot (1,510-square metre) meeting and event space at the hotel will include a grand 8,300-square foot (780-square metre) ballroom divisible into three, a break-away function room, spacious pre-function area, four boardrooms as well as a fully equipped 24-hour business centre. Recreational options will include an outdoor swimming pool, fitness centre, luxurious full-service spa and a salon.
Conrad Pune will also offer the popular mobile Conrad Concierge app, which gives global luxury travelers the ability to customize details of their hotel stay before, during and after each visit via a smartphone or tablet. Whether it's pre-selecting bath amenities or checking-in while in-transit from the airport, guests can access a variety of features at any of the 23 Conrad hotels worldwide by using the app.
American Hotel Income Properties REIT LP announces completion of Jefferson City, Missouri hotel renovation and conversion to Oak Tree Inn
American Hotel Income Properties has announced the grand opening of the fully renovated Oak Tree Inn hotel located in Jefferson City, Missouri. The previously announced 77-room nationally franchised hotel was acquired on September 12, 2013 with cash. A long-term railway contract with a leading US railroad customer is now in place and new mortgage financing is expected by management to be obtained shortly.
As part of a comprehensive $1 million renovation, AHIP implemented Oak Tree Inn's brand standards at the Jefferson City property including noise, light and temperature control features desired by AHIP's railroad customers.
Through its wholly-owned indirect subsidiaries, AHIP currently owns 38 hotels in 20 States. Within AHIP's railway contract portfolio of 34 hotel properties, 33 properties are under AHIP's "Oak Tree Inn" brand and include 23 24-hour diners under AHIP's "Penny's Diner" brand, with an additional four Oak Tree Inns and three Penny's Diners presently under construction and development.
