Dominican Republic's new global travel app
Traveling to Dominican Republic has been made easier with the newly released Dominican Republic Travel App. Unveiled by the Dominican Republic Ministry of Tourism, the global app puts travel in the palm of travelers' hands and provides an all-in-one experience to plan, book, manage and maximize upcoming travel.
The 100 percent offline app is a go-to source for Dominican Republic travel information, consumer engagement and booking for travelers from around the world. As a complement to GoDominicanRepublic.com, the dynamic app provides comprehensive tourism information including:
"The app is a great resource for locals and visitors alike," said Magaly Toribio, Marketing Advisor for the Dominican Republic Ministry of Tourism. "Our visitors are extremely tech savvy and looking for ways to maximize their time and experience while in the country. The app combines our unique itinerary management system, insider travel expertise and technology to create a user-friendly mobile service, perfect for travelers who seek the most accurate information on the destination."
The free app was created by Diardo Technology Group, and is available in the App Store and Google Play in six different languages-English, Spanish, Italian, French, German and Portuguese.
Program helps link veterans to job training in hospitality industry
Four veterans completed the "Heroes to Hospitality" program, which is a new program that aims to help people transition from military life to civilian careers.
The first "graduation" from the program was Jan. 17 at the Embassy Suites Newark - Wilmington/South in Delaware. The nonprofit ServiceSource, and the hotel worked together to create the job training program. A $5,000 grant from Hilton Worldwide and a matching $5,000 from ServiceSource funded through Bank of America, according to an announcement about the program.
Those who participated in the program were paid an hourly subsidy during the four-week-long program. They took part in 120 hours of hands-on training and 60 hours of classroom work, according to the company. Mentors from Embassy Suites Newark - Wilmington/South were also paired with the participants.
