Lindsey Ueberroth named CEO of Preferred Hotel Group
Preferred Hotel Group has announced the promotion of Lindsey Ueberroth to Chief Executive Officer. She will continue to serve in her role as President. The move is part of a planned succession of leadership as the company enters its 10th year of private ownership by the Ueberroth Family. The announcement was made by John Ueberroth, who will continue to serve as Chairman.
Lindsey Ueberroth, 38, joined Preferred Hotel Group in 2004 and has served in several roles, including president from 2010 to the present.
Over the past 40 months, Preferred Hotel Group helped its global portfolio of member hotels successfully emerge from the worldwide economic downturn by doubling total year-end reservations revenue and generating a 25% increase in Average Daily Rate (ADR).
Lindsey launched the company's points-based iPrefer loyalty program that provided new ways for independent hotels to compete with the hard flag brands. Under her leadership, the company also executed the introduction of the Sterling Design and Summit Serviced Residences brands, marked first-time presence in more than 20 new countries, and formed partnerships with renowned independent hotels, ranging from Wynn Las Vegas and The Alpina Gstaad to The Mark Hotel and EAST Beijing. Shortly after joining Preferred Hotel Group, Lindsey spearheaded the development of the Preferred Boutique brand. She is a graduate of Wake Forest University.
John Ueberroth will remain active in the company's global development and growth efforts. Gail Ueberroth will continue to serve as the company's vice chairman and chief marketing officer.
Preferred Hotel Group represents 650 independent hotels, resorts, and serviced residences in 85 countries.
Mike Lauria Director of Operations at Bonaventure Resort & Spa
Benchmark Hospitality International has appointed Mike Lauria director of operations for Bonaventure Resort & Spa located in Fort Lauderdale.
Mike Lauria was previously director of rooms for the Bonaventure. He has served the resort in several operational areas of increasing responsibility. Lauria began his career with Hyatt Hotels and Resorts, working for properties in New York, Virginia, Florida and Aruba.
Lauria is a graduate of Fairleigh Dickenson University, where he earned his Bachelor of Business Management degree.
Ayuko Suzuki appointed Director of Spa & Fitness, The Ritz-Carlton, Bangalore
Ayuko Suzuki has recently been appointed the Director of Spa and Fitness at The Ritz-Carlton Spa. In this position, she will manage and lead the operational, strategic and financial performance of the 17,000 square-foot spa which is one of the largest and most luxurious spas in Bangalore.
Ms. Suzuki has 11 years of experience in the spa and hospitality industry and has worked across 8 countries. She is a qualified Clinical Aroma Therapist as well as an internationally recognized CIBTAC certified practitioner. Prior to joining The Ritz-Carlton, Bangalore she has worked with many international luxury resorts & spa brands and led the spas to win prestigious international awards.
A Japanese national, Ms. Suzuki is fluent in English and Japanese and is passionate about lifestyle wellness.
The Ritz-Carlton Spa is located on a dedicated wellness floor, spread across 1,580 square meters. It reatures 12 deluxe treatment rooms including - a VIP couple suite, two express rooms, and a host of spa appointments including a steam, sauna and a thermal room.
Questex appoints Event Director for Luxury Travel Exchange International
Questex Hospitality + Travel has named Jill Birkett event director, responsible for the company's leisure events portfolio including Luxury Travel Exchange International (LTX).
The 2014 LTX, to be held Dec. 9-11 at The Palazzo Las Vegas, brings fully vetted, top-producing advisors of luxury and premium niche travel together with leading suppliers for three full days of one-to-one meetings, interactive networking and educational programming. The successful 2013 program hosted more than 5,000 one-to-one meetings among 900 professional travel advisors and 300 luxury travel suppliers.
During the last five years, Birkett was business director of the Beauty & Wellness Industry division of UBM plc, a global events marketing and communications services company based in London, responsible for managing a business-to-business event that connects global suppliers with major global brands including Revlon, Estee Lauder and Chanel, among others.
Prior to that, she was vice president and general partner of Unicomm LLC, a Milford, Conn., business-to-business communications company specializing in trade shows and conferences, responsible for managing four to five Travel & Adventure Shows annually that were attended by more than 100,000 consumers and 2,000 travel agents.
She was vice president of operations, USA, for Advanstar Communications, for two years before becoming chief operating officer of b-there Corp., a Web-based group air and hotel booking tool, which she served for three years.
From 1986 to 1997, Birkett was vice president of Expocan Management Associates of Fairfield, Conn., where she managed operations and logistics for 12 trade shows and conferences that generated $45 million in annual sales. Previously, she held sales positions with Marriott hotels and was a trip manager for S&H Motivation and Travel, where she worked on incentive programs for Goodyear, Ford, Xerox and other major U.S. corporations.
She earned a bachelorof arts degree in economics from Saint Mary's College, Notre Dame, Ind., and lives in Stamford, Conn.
