Pan Pacific announces four pipeline projects across Asia Pacific
Pan Pacific Hotels Group has announced the signings of four management contracts to add three PARKROYAL and one "Pan Pacific" hotels to its portfolio across Asia Pacific - namely in Australia, China and Myanmar.
With these additions, the Group now owns and/or manages 38 hotels, resorts and serviced suites with close to 12,000 rooms in Asia, Oceania and North America, including those under development.
The fourth PARKROYAL hotel in Australia and second in Melbourne, the 281-room PARKROYAL Melbourne will open in 2016 in the Digital Harbour Precinct of Melbourne Docklands, a premium waterfront development that is part of an on-going project to renew the city's Central Business District.
Spanning the first 18 storeys of The Altus, a 37-storey hotel and apartment complex, PARKROYAL Melbourne will offer views of the city centre and the Victoria Harbour waterfront. It is also one of the first hotels in Melbourne Docklands targeting an Award of Merit under the Docklands Ecologically Sustainable Development Guide.
Located along the iconic Sha River and opposite the University of Electronic Science and Technology, within the oldest cultural district in Chengdu's city centre, the Group's first PARKROYAL hotel in China - PARKROYAL Chengdu - is scheduled to open in 2017.
Part of a mixed-use development comprising high-end residential units, a hotel, office and retail spaces, PARKROYAL Chengdu will feature 360 guestrooms, an all-day dining restaurant, speciality restaurant, poolside bar and restaurant, lobby bar and lounge, ballroom and meeting spaces.
One of China's premier tourist destinations, Zhuhai will be home to Pan Pacific Zhuhai, the sixth "Pan Pacific" property in the China.
The 300-room Pan Pacific Zhuhai will open its doors in 2017 next to the bustling Gongbei Business Circle and the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau bridge, which is currently under construction. Separated from Macau by the scenic waterway of Qianshan, the hotel will also offer a spectacular view of the vibrant Macau city. It will feature conference facilities, a Chinese restaurant, all-day dining restaurant, executive lounge, lobby bar and lounge, a swimming pool and gym.
Pan Pacific Zhuhai and the upcoming Pan Pacific Tianjin (opening in mid-2014) will build upon the solid foundation of the current four "Pan Pacific" properties in Ningbo, Xiamen and Suzhou.
Following the success of PARKROYAL Yangon, widely regarded as one of the leading hotels in Myanmar, the Group will open its second PARKROYAL hotel in the capital, Nay Pyi Taw, this year.
Scheduled to launch in April, PARKROYAL Nay Pyi Taw will feature 180 rooms (opening in two phrases) and comprise an all-day dining restaurant, spa, gym, swimming pool and a range of meeting facilities.
Mandarin Oriental Barcelona open new luxury suites
Mandarin Oriental, Barcelona has now added 17 suites and five additional rooms to its inventory, bringing the total room count to 120.
Located in the modernist building adjacent to the hotel on the city's most luxurious boulevard, Passeig de Gracia, the rooms are all easily accessible via the main building. Each of the new rooms and suites range from 475 to more than 1,300 square feet, and all have been designed with an emphasis on style and space.
The award-winning Spanish designer Patricia Urquiola, who was responsible for the distinctive interior design of Mandarin Oriental, Barcelona, was re-commissioned to create the decor for the new rooms, following the same avant-garde and cosmopolitan style that characterizes the hotel.
Pullman Saigon Centre opens in Ho Chi Minh City
Pullman, Accor's upscale international brand, announces the opening of the Pullman Saigon Centre, its 3rd hotel in Vietnam. The Pullman Saigon Centre boasts a strategic location in the heart of District 1, close to Ben Thanh Market and the major tourist attractions with stunning views of the city.
The 306-room Pullman Saigon Centre features a contemporary design, a wide range of technological facilities, four bars and restaurants and five meeting venues. All the room categories - Superior, Deluxe, Executive and its 17 Suites - have stunning city views, free Wi-Fi and optimal connectivity. The Pullman bed guarantees a restful sleep and notably features memory foam pillows. The Personal Media Network application developed by Pullman in partnership with Quadriga offers a unified entertainment experience: after downloading and installing this application, guests can use their Smartphone to order room-service or start watching a VOD film on the room's TV, then continue to watch it on their tablet in the bar and finish watching it on their Smartphone by the pool.
Five of the hotel's floors - the 25th to the 29th - are reserved for the Executive rooms and Suites, which have additional facilities such as an espresso machine and a BOSE SoundDock II system. The Executive Lounge on the 30th floor also offers access to exclusive services (VIP welcome, check-in and check-out, breakfast, evening cocktails, a meeting room, etc.).
Hilton Los Angeles/Universal City completes $7 Million in sustainable upgrades
Hilton Los Angeles/Universal City has been recognized by Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti for its completion of the largest PACE (Property Assessed Clean Energy) project in the US. The PACE project upgrades included more than $7 million of green building retrofits that will lead to annual energy, material and maintenance savings of $800,000 and water savings of $28,000.
The comprehensive sustainability project includes energy efficiency glass installations and new LED lighting that will reduce energy consumption by 50 percent. Additionally, the property installed 500 low-flow shower heads, 250 new bathtubs, elevators and more. In addition, Hilton Los Angeles/Universal City will receive utility rebates and tax incentives of approximately $1 million.
In 2009, Hilton Worldwide developed five-year sustainability goals to reduce energy consumption, carbon and waste output by 20 percent, and water use by 10 percent. The company has already achieved its waste and water reduction goals and is on its way to reaching energy use and carbon output targets. It also created LightStay!, a proprietary system of measurement that calculates sustainability performance across its portfolio of hotels.
Modus Hotels adds Brookshire Suites to its collection of lifestyle hotels
Brookshire Suites Baltimore will re-launch this week at 120 East Lombard Street under the stewardship of Modus Hotels, a D.C.-based owner and operator of lifestyle hotels.
Accommodations include 97 studio and one bedroom suites with features such as oversized desks, mini-fridges and large, light-filled bay windows with views of Baltimore's Inner Harbor. Guest rooms take a cue from local Baltimore and street art themes, with artist portraits, bright pops of color, and graffiti wall covering against warm grey textured walls. The lobby space is also accented with black and white photographs of Baltimore born musicians; Frank Zappa, Mama Cass Elliott and Adam Duritz, lead singer from the Counting Crows.
Business travelers can take advantage of nearly 2,000 square feet of event space; two flexibly designed rooms including a multi-use 12th floor space with harbor views as well as daily breakfast and grab-and-go snacks and beverages from the lobby's Marketplace.
