Ayman Rasheed new Executive Assistant Manager of Crowne Plaza Amman
Mr. Oussama Massoud, Regional General Manager for InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) in Jordan and Palestine announced the promotion of Ayman Rasheed from Area Chief Engineer to the position of Executive Assistant Manager of Crowne Plaza Amman.
Rasheed has a long history with IHG that goes back to 2003. He has great experience in the field of engineering, including maintaining the performance of the engineering department, implementing energy saving plans, performing quality audits for the entire properties, among many other responsibilities. He was a member of the team that opened both Holiday Inn Resort Dead Sea and Crowne Plaza Jordan Dead Sea Resort & Spa.
The Westin La Paloma Resort & Spa appoints Matt Brody as Director of Sales & Marketing
The Westin La Paloma Resort & Spa has appointed industry veteran Matt Brody as the resort's new director of sales and marketing. With more than of experience in hospitality sales and marketing, Brody is a strategic addition to the sales team.
Prior to joining The Westin La Paloma Resort & Spa team, 17-year industry veteran Brody was most recently with Marriott International as the director of sales and marketing at the 575-room J.W. Marriott Starr Pass Resort & Spa, and the 1100 room Renaissance Grand. He also spent almost a decade with the Walt Disney Company in Lake Buena Vista, Florida.
During his career, Brody has served in a number of key volunteer leadership roles with multiple Industry and community organizations. He was appointed to the (MPI) Meeting Professionals International Board of Directors for a three year term from 2010 to 2013 and has chaired several key MPI committees. Brody is a member of Visit Tucson's Marketing Co-Op board as well as a member of the Tucson international Airport Authority lift task force.
Far East Hospitality appoints new Area General Manager
Far East Hospitality has appointed Melvin Lim as Area General Manager, Orchard Cluster. In his new role, Melvin will oversee the performance of Far East Hospitality's hotels in the Orchard district including The Quincy Hotel, Orchard Parade Hotel and The Elizabeth Hotel.
Melvin will be working closely with the respective Hotel Managers to ensure high standards of Singapore-inspired hospitality. He will also play a critical role in driving the business and in the strategic planning of Far East Hospitality's portfolio. The hospitality veteran will report directly to Brian Stampe, Country Manager of Far East Hospitality.
Melvin brings with him over 20 years of experience working in the hospitality industry. Prior to joining Far East Hospitality, Melvin was the Vice President of an international hotel group and had held senior management positions at several international luxury hotels and serviced residences within the Asia Pacific region, including Singapore, Hong Kong, Indonesia, the Philippines, Thailand and Malaysia.
Stanford Court Hotel announces new executive leadership
Stanford Court, located on San Francisco's iconic Nob Hill and recently under new, independent management, is pleased to announce the appointments of Michael Baier as the hotel's new general manager and Austin Philips as director of sales and marketing.
Seasoned hospitality veterans and Bay Area natives, Baier and Phillips collectively bring nearly four decades of experience at distinguished properties across the country. In their new roles, Baier and Phillips are tasked with overseeing a cultural transformation for the 393-room hotel, which will roll out over the course of 2014.
Baier's credentials cover 25 years in the hospitality industry including posts as director of operations at Wyndham Parc 55 San Francisco-Union Square, hotel manager at the W San Francisco and director of operations at the W Dallas-Victory. A Bay Area native, Baier began his hotel career with the opening of the San Francisco Marriott in 1989. Over the next 16 years, Baier rose through the ranks at Marriott, including tenures at properties in Vail, Philadelphia and Austin.
Phillips joins Stanford Court from Boston Park Plaza Hotel, where he served as associate director of sales. Previously, he was director of business travel and leisure sales at Wyndham Parc 55 San Francisco-Union Square. Phillips' experience includes director of sales and marketing of Greystone Hotels, where he was responsible for the overall productivity for Hotel Griffon, King George Hotel and The Inn at Union Square, and sales team roles at Joie de Vivre Hotels and Hotel Adagio.
CSM Lodging names Patrick C. Vyncke Director of Acquisitions & Development
CSM Lodging has named Patrick C. Vyncke director of acquisitions & development for the hospitality management and ownership company.
Patrick Vyncke was most recently an associate for Watermark Capital Partners, a private equity investment firm based in Chicago, and co-advisor of Carey Watermark Investors, Incorporated (CWI), a $1 billion publicly-registered REIT. In this role, he was directly involved in the acquisition, disposition and asset management activities for the various properties within the portfolio. Previous to this appointment he held the title of finance manager for American Property Hospitality Management, LLC, a private equity-backed owner and operator of hotels and resorts throughout the United States and Mexico, based in Los Angeles.
Mr. Vyncke is a graduate of DePaul University where he earned dual Bachelor of Science degrees in finance and business administration.
il Lugano Hotel and da Campo Osteria announce Hector Campos as Executive Chef
Il Lugano, a luxury boutique hotel in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, is excited to announce Hector Campos as the new Executive Chef for the hotel and da Campo Osteria. da Campo Osteria is housed within the hotel and offers authentic regional Italian fare, which is one of Chef Campos' many expertise.
Campos comes from the InterContinental Hotel San Juan Resort and Casino where he served as Executive Chef and focused on Caribbean and Italian dishes. Much of his experience is in Latin cuisine and fresh preparation. He brings with him more than 24 years of experience in the hospitality industry and has been recognized for his culinary creations and teamwork internationally.
New Wellington flavour at Chameleon Restaurant
The new Chef de Cuisine heading the kitchen of Chameleon Restaurant at InterContinental Wellington is Paul Limacher.
Paul has collected a slew of awards for his cuisine abilities during a career that has seen him leading several top Wellington dining establishments including five years as executive chef at Shed 5 and most recently as executive sous chef at the multi-catering operation of Te Papa Museum.
Chameleon Restaurant has long been an innovative part of the Wellington dining scene, specialising in presenting quality New Zealand cuisine with flair, to both visitors to the capital and local diners.
IHG Board changes
InterContinental Hotels Group PLC (IHG) has announced that David Kappler will retire from the Board and his role as an independent Non-Executive Director of IHG on 31 May 2014. Kappler was appointed to IHG's Board on 21 June 2004.
He will step down as Chairman of the Audit Committee with effect from 1 April 2014 and will be replaced by Ian Dyson, a Director of IHG and a member of IHG's Audit, Remuneration and Nomination Committees. Dale Morrison, a Director of IHG and a member of IHG's Audit, Corporate Responsibility and Nomination Committees, will be appointed Senior Independent Director with effect from 31 May 2014.
Ian Dyson was appointed to the Board on 1st September 2013. He has held a number of senior executive and finance roles including Group Finance & Operations Director for Marks & Spencer Group plc for 5 years from 2005 to 2010, where he oversaw significant changes in the business. In addition, Ian was CEO of Punch Taverns plc, Finance Director for the Rank Group, and Group Financial Controller and Finance Director for the hotels division of the Hilton Group. Ian is currently a Non-Executive Director of Punch Taverns plc, a Non-Executive Director and Chairman of the Audit Committee of Betfair Group plc and Senior Independent and Non-Executive Director of ASOS plc.
Dale Morrison was appointed to the IHG Board on 1st June 2011. A founding partner of TriPointe Capital Partners, a private equity firm, Dale was previously President and Chief Executive Officer of McCain Foods Limited and President and Chief Executive Officer of Campbell Soup Company. Dale is currently a Non-Executive Director of International Flavors & Fragrances Inc., a producer of flavours and fragrances, and Chairman of Findus Group Limited, a frozen food company.
Tayfun Döşkaya named CEO and board member of Tavros Investment Holding
Tavros Investment Holding announced industry veteran Tayfun Döşkaya has been appointed Chief Executive Officer and a Member of the Board.
Tayfun Döşkaya brings more than 25 years of hospitality & real-estate experience to Tavros Investment Holding, and prior to joining the company he served as CEO of Via Properties, at the same time he was a member of the board of the company's joint venture with Gursoy Group, at Gursoy&Via Properties. During his work, Gursoy&Via Properties had launched Turkey's first theme park, Vialand, in Istanbul.
Prior to his work with Via Properties, Mr.Döşkaya has also held executive level positions with Dedeman Hotels and Resorts International and other multinational hotel chains. His background covers all sectors of the hospitality as well as the real-estate investment industry. Mr. Döşkaya has worked closely with most of the major hotel franchisors including Marriott, IHG, Wyndham and Dedeman.
