Will Your Next CEO be a Revenue Manager?
Aug 01, 07 | 7:57 am
The days of Revenue Management being labeled as a voodoo science are (hopefully!) behind us. But there is a still a long way to go before RM is truly given the respect is deserves. Every decision a revenue manager makes ultimately affects the company’s profitability. However, in order to realize the full potential of RM and strategic pricing, revenue managers need to be viewed as executive-level positions, with influence over other departments. A successful revenue manager should be able to convince senior management to see RM as part on the bigger picture and develop an integrated culture of revenue management within the organization.
Today’s successful revenue managers are not just setting the optimum price for their products - they are evolving into corporate leaders who chair rate-strategy committees, train product managers in pricing strategies, and guide sales and marketing teams in the most effective positioning for their selling strategies and campaigns. So maybe your next CEO will be a revenue manager?
Revenue managers not only have to develop the most effective rates and strategies, but most importantly they have to ensure the whole organization implements those rate and strategies. And it’s this role which will be the key theme at EyeforTravel’s Revenue Management and Pricing Conference (taking place on 9-10 October in Caesars Palace in Las Vegas).
The conference will examine how to increase RM awareness and integration in two ways. Firstly the agenda has a strong focus on aligning revenue management with other departments. Delegates will get professional advice on integrating revenue management and pricing strategies across sales, distribution and CRM. Finally there is an interactive workshop on how to recruit train and get the most of your Revenue Managers.
Secondly, since RM integration is so big on the list of priorities, attendees will benefit from being able to network with a broader range of travel industry executives. This conference will be held as part of the Travel Distribution Summit North America 2007. The Summit comprises of three senior-level conferences: CRM Technology for Travel, Revenue Management and Pricing in Travel and The Travel Distribution Executive Conference and purchasing one conference ticket gives you an access-all-areas pass to all three events. So RM delegates will have a unique opportunity to network with marketing, distribution, ecommerce, sales and CRM experts.
