Five hundred companies from 30 countries are expected to take part in the Food and Hotel Malaysia 2003 (FHM 2003) exhibition to be held at the Mines International Exhibition Centre here from Sept 24-27, 2003.
Some 15,000 trade visitors from the region and abroad are expected to attend this's year show, compared with 13,161 during the previous event, said the event's organiser, Malaysian Exhibition Services Sdn Bhd (MES), in a statement here Wednesday.
The event, in its seventh biennial series, is a specialised trade event targetted at the food and beverage, hotel, restaurant and hospitality services sector.
Displays at the FHM 2003 would include a wide range of food and beverage products, foodservice equipment, meat, poultry, agricultural produce, contract furnishings for restaurants and hotels, hospitality technology and leisure equipment.
A major highlight of the exhibition would be the halal food trail featuring Malaysian products that cater to the Islamic community and a conference jointly organised by Unipeq (Food Quality Research Unit) and the Malaysian Institute of Food Technology.
Speakers from SIRIM Bhd, the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (Jakim), Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation and industry experts from Thailand, Brunei and the Philippines are expected to present their papers at the conference.
Other highlights would include a bakery seminar, a tea and coffee seminar featuring trends and developments of the coffee and tea sectors and a convention where hoteliers would have the opportunity to share and exchange ideas on the latest trends affecting the food and hospitality industry.
