Travelocity® widens its regional support for hotels
Travelocity®, the online travel portal that booked more than eight million room nights in 2004, today announced it was further extending its support for hotels throughout the Asia Pacific region with the appointment of three new market managers and a market coordinator.
Selina Chan is the new Market Manager for South East Asia, Steven Ler becomes Market Manager for Greater China and India, while Katie Han is the Market Manager for South Korea. They will support current Market Manager, Mark Hillman, who has been with Travelocity’s Asia Pacific team since its establishment in 2004. Hillman will now focus on driving business into the partner hotels in the Pacific market and Japan. Alex Nieuwenhuys has been appointed Market Coordinator Asia Pacific.
“These key appointments reflect the growing importance of the Asia Pacific region for online travel,” said Sue Graham, Travelocity’s Regional Manager, Hotel Business for Asia Pacific.
“We are delighted to have people of the calibre of Chan, Han, Hillman, Ler and Nieuwenhuys to work with our hotel partners. Each brings a depth of regional hotel and travel experience plus each has a strong understanding of the online world.
“This team has a key role in working with our partner hotels to maximize their online marketing opportunities and drive business to their hotels from all the Travelocity points of sale internationally,” Ms Graham explained.
Travelocity, with millions of members and bookings in 94 countries, powers travel websites in multiple languages throughout the world.
Chan, who is fluent in six languages, has built a solid reputation after more than 18 years in the industry throughout Australia and South East Asia. She was an early player in online travel and her previous role was Regional Director Sales and Marketing for Asia Web Direct.
Most recently with Club Med Vacances Korea, Han’s decade of travel industry experience covers hotel sales and marketing, plus industry PR. Han has an MBA in International Business & Marketing.
Ler’s nine years in the travel industry saw him build strong relationships throughout the region and included both GDS and online experience. His previous roles have been with Abacus and he was most recently Regional Product & Content Development Manager for the pan-Asia Pacific online travel agent, ZUJI.
Hillman has spent more than a decade in the travel and hotel industry in this region. His strength in the electronic side of reservations, through roles with hotel groups SPHC and HotelBank in particular, will be invaluable to his hotel partners.
As Market Coordinator, Alex Nieuwenhuys will work with the Market Managers and partner hotels to ensure maximization of their visibility on Travelocity and its affiliate sites.
Ms Graham said the appointments further emphasised
Travelocity’s commitment to a strong presence in the region.
“Hoteliers have found our Net Rate Hotel program a very cost effective way to gain access to travelers throughout the world. It is hotel friendly, saving hoteliers labor and giving them immediate payment,” she said. “Now they will benefit even more with the dynamic merchandising input of the market managers.”
