As someone who admittedly has never been at the helm of a property with the exception of short term MOD responsibilities, I feel as close as anyone can be to hotel management. Yet I recognize that it is not the same as the burden of being general manager.
Every general manager should implement regular staff training sessions throughout his or her property, both to keep employees motivated, and to ensure that their skills are up-to-date. Skills that are not consistently practiced or used on the job will degrade over time, and desired behaviors will deteriorate unless they have become second-nature to the employee.

He started his hospitality career in his native Lebanon, where he joined the food and beverage department of the Al Bustan Hotel in 1997. In the following years, he transferred to front office and worked in independent boutique hotels before joining Mövenpick 15 years ago.
