The history of the Hotel Management School Berlin

By the year 1963 in the Pfalz Straße (Berlin Wilmersdorf) opened technical school for hotel and catering industry was that spans more than three decades extending efforts of the industry to establish a training institution, finally rewarded. Special achievements are attributable to the former foreman of the Hotel and Restaurant Association, Heinz Zellermayer. Even then applied to the first 25 students that they had to have both completed vocational training as well as through appropriate work practices.

The success of the first course, based on an associated quality of training, continued over the years, leaving the number of applications continues to rise. To mark a hard session, the then Senator of Education from the state recognition of Hotelfachschule Berlin to January 1, 1965. A few years later, in March 1971 the first students received the diploma supplement “State certified Business Manager / Certified business economist”.

Over three decades the hotel management school was integrated in premises other educational institutions and thus in administrative dependence. As since 2007 administratively independent college in the heart of Berlin is currently the HOFA allows 300 students a deep industry-oriented education. With the emerging new building on the site at Hausvogteiplatz independence is secured for the next decades.
