Representatives of Skål International have just returned from Germany after attending the world’s leading travel trade show. With 26 halls fully booked, around 10,000 exhibitors from 184 countries and regions, the world’s premier travel and tourism event maintains a strong appeal.
This year again, Skål International did not miss one of the most important events in the global tourism industry where, in addition to providing a social and business meeting place for its members, it promoted the benefits of membership to potential members and established numerous contacts.
Vice President Susanna Saari and the CEO Daniela Otero represented the association at the General Assembly of The Code, as a member of its board. The Code of Conduct for the Protection of Children from Sexual Exploitation in Travel and Tourism is an industry-driven initiative with the mission to provide awareness, tools, support and prevention.
They also attended the inauguration, in the presence of the Secretary General of the United Nations World Tourism Organisation, Dr Taleb Rifai, of the Responsible and Sustainable Travel Pavilion, where they had the opportunity to talk to Suman Billa, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, about the 2017 World Congress of the Association which will be held in Hyderabad in October this year.
